OnePlus Nord N10 5G Review: Specs, Features, and Price in Nigeria

The OnePlus Nord family has featured most of the company’s affordable smartphones. Starting from the first OnePlus Nord to the newest OnePlus Nord N10 5G, it has been a series of quality affordable smartphones. The latest OnePlus Nord N10 5G is a mid-range performer in the Nord family and it boasts of incredible specs. The original Nord and Nord N100 were other affordable phones from the company.

The OnePlus Nord N10 5G comes with a 6.49-inch screen that has a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, alongside a Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 chipset. Also, there’s a 64MP quad-camera setup at the rear and a 16MP selfie shooter up front for amazing photography sessions. There aren’t many improvements in the OnePlus Nord N10 5G as the company had to cut some corners to squeeze in a cheaper smartphone than the Nord and Nord N100.

Apart from using a slower processor than these two phones, the OnePlus Nord N10 5G features an IPS LCD panel instead of AMOLED. Also, it lacks an in-display fingerprint scanner and IP rating for water resistance. On the other hand, the Nord N10 5G also features 5G network connectivity and a 90Hz refresh rate. Unlike other OnePlus mobile phones, this phone also supports an expandable memory through the dedicated microSD card slot.

Undoubtedly, the OnePlus Nord N10 5G has all it takes to make it your dream phone. However, with many shortcomings, will the Nord N10 5G make it to your best Android smartphone list, read on to find our full review and verdict about the OnePlus Nord N10 5G.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G: Design

The OnePlus Nord series smartphones are built to meet their budget price. However, this phone comes in the simplest form, but in a tricky way. You can only notice the plastic body when you pick up the phone. From afar it looks like a premium phone, but very much a budget phone with a plastic frame and a Dark Blue painted rear which has a glossy finish. Compared to other Nord smartphones, the Nord N10 5G is heavier and thicker with wider bezels, especially on its bottom chin.

This phone also misses out on the normal OnePlus toggle which helps to switch between silent, vibrate, and, ring modes which OnePlus phones are known for. Meanwhile, the lack of an official IP rating is what we expected due to the phone’s price. Despite weighting higher than most OnePlus phones, the Nord N10 5G is also sizeable and comfortable to handle. The power button is positioned at the right edge while the volume button is on the left with the headphone jack on its bottom edge.

Next to the headphone jack are the USB Type-C port and the speaker grille. The front panel features a punch-hole camera cutout at the upper left corner. A fingerprint scanner sits on the rear panel which we found fast and responsive. The OnePlus Nord N10 5G comes only in the Dark Blue color named Midnight Ice.

Display

Display

Unlike other OnePlus smartphones, the Nord N10 5G lacks an AMOLED panel. However, whatever panel that is used is still acceptable provided there’s a 90Hz of refresh rate. The screen measures 6.49-inches with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution, 20.9 aspect ratio, and 406ppi density. The only obstruction here is the punch hole cutout for the selfie camera, though the bottom chin bezels are slightly much like we said earlier.

The display is bright and sharp with enough contrast, but its colors should have been more punchy and vibrant. Fortunately, there’s a 90Hz refresh rate which makes scrolling through various apps and feeds on your phone smooth and fast. This is quite impressive at an era where only a few OnePlus phones can offer up to a 90Hz refresh rate at this price point. So we found the Nord N10 5G’s display generally great for this price considering OnePlus phones are known to be pricey.

Camera

Camera

The OnePlus Nord N10 5G has a four-camera setup on the rear which is the same as other OnePlus phones. There might be four lenses to take photos with, but you only need two as others are just for support when you need them. Its main shooter and ultra-wide lens are the ones that are mostly used while taking pictures, but you switch to the monochrome lens if you want to take black and white photos which people hardly use. Meanwhile, the 8MP ultra-wide camera does a great job while capturing in dynamic range.

There’s a 2MP macro lens for taking close-up shots. The macro camera helps you focus on one object, but pictures tend to lose details as you get much closer. Due to the absence of a telephoto lens, you have to rely on the main camera’s digital zooming. The 10x digital zooming is a decent one and can capture faraway objects. The main camera has a 64MP lens but shoots at 16MP by default.

The only downside of this phone’s camera is the low-light or Nightscape mode. When compared to the OnePlus Nord and OnePlus 8T, this phone’s camera is unimpressive. Photos weren’t detailed enough and the pictures were relatively dark. We think OnePlus should have done better to brighten up the scene. The selfie shooter comes with a 16MP sensor which you can take portrait shots with. You can also record 4k videos at 30fps with both the selfie and rear cameras.

Performance, Storage, and Software

Performance, Storage, and Software

The OnePlus Nord N10 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 chipset. Though we said the chipset is slower than the OnePlus Nord, that doesn’t make it a less-powerful chipset. You won’t experience any form of lagging throughout your day-to-day activities with this phone. Browsing through the internet run smoothly with the chipset’s 5G support. Playing games is also a decent experience with this phone, especially competitive games which you’ll enjoy on a 90Hz high refresh rate that provides a faster response as you scroll through the screen.

For memory, the OnePlus Nord N10 5G has 6GB of RAM that’s paired with 128GB of in-built storage. Fortunately, it features a dedicated microSD card slot that has been missing on other OnePlus phones. This allows you to expand the phone’s storage up to 1TB.

The OnePlus OxygenOS interface has been one of the best so far. This phone runs the OxygenOS 10.5 interface with the Android 10 operating system on top. Unfortunately, we haven’t received any software updates yet, but the OnePlus Nord N10 5G is expected to receive at least one major Android OS update and two years of security updates just like the OnePlus explained.

Battery

The OnePlus Nord N10 5G is equipped with a 4300mAh battery which powers some other expensive OnePlus phones. After a full battery charge, the Nord N10 5G can easily last the whole day on moderate use. The battery comes with a 30W fast charging support which can charge this phone from zero to 100% within an hour.
