Oppo Find X3 Pro Review: Features, Specs, and Price

The Oppo smartphone company has really done a great job with the launch of the Oppo Find X3 Pro. This is a new beginning of a smartphone with smooth camera effects and an excellent way to start the year for the Chinese company. This phone is undoubtedly the most premium flagship device of the Oppo company, presenting us with brand new features that can compete with the likes of Samsung and Apple.

In 2018, the initial Oppo Find X was launched and has since proved to be one of the best brands in the market. Having produced some of the best Oppo mobile phones like the Oppo Find X, Oppo Find X2 Pro, Oppo Find X Slider, and the Oppo Find X3 Pro alongside its mid-range ‘Neo’ and low-end ‘Lite’ model, there’s no doubt Oppo is ready to take over the smartphone market. The Find X3 Pro is nothing short of a premium quality smartphone, rivalling the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, and the iPhone 12 Pro max in terms of features and price as well.

The Oppo Find X3 Pro is a direct successor to the Find X2 Pro which was launched back in 2020. It features some upgrades in so many areas, although its hefty price is a downgrade too. However, the Oppo Find X3 Pro could be one of your best smartphones if you look past its super-high price.

We’ve had the Oppo Find X3 Pro for a while now and has brought out the total specifications, features, and latest price in Nigeria. Read on to see how the phone levelled against the competition.

Design

Design

The design of the Oppo Find X3 Pro doesn’t impress that much. This may sound divisive, but we find the Find X3 Pro less attractive than its previous model. The Oppo Find X2 Pro which happens to be the former model sets a new mark for good-looking phones, although the design of the Find X3 Pro isn’t out of scratch.

What are we trying to say? The Oppo Find X2 Pro comes in faux leather and has a curved screen display on its side edge all in a complementary two-colour design. However, none of these can be found in the Oppo Find X3 Pro, but that doesn’t make the Find X3 Pro unattractive either. However, we would have loved it if the X3 Pro inherited the flashy design aesthetics of the X2 Pro.

The phone weighs only 193g. This is slightly light for a flagship phone of this type and is noticeable while holding it. Measuring just 163.6 x 74 x 8.3 in dimension is quite thin when compared to its rivals, although most fans prefer having a thin and light phone over hefty ones. The Find X3 Pro is an IP68 rated device that protects it against dust and can survive in-depth water for 30 minutes.

Oppo showed her design prowess in the Find X3 Pro rear glass. The iPhone 12 Pro like rear camera is curved down to bring out a noticeable camera bump. This is a great introduction to Oppo’s new design engineering marvel. Although the Find X3 Pro has a slightly curved screen, it’s nothing compared to its predecessors’ waterfall edge. This fails to give the phone a perfect hand comfortability, thereby making it prone to accidental falls.

The volume and power button are separated between the left and right edge of the phone respectively. The Oppo Find X3 Pro is therefore available in three distinct colour options including Gloss Black, Blue and White.

Display

Display

The Oppo Find X3 Pro features a large 6.7-inch AMOLED display which is showing at 3216 x 1440 pixels (QHD+) resolution. Also, the Find X3 Pro’s display has up to 1300 nits of brightness which makes the screen look great with pure colours and sharp contrast.

One of the best features of the Oppo Find X3 Pro display is the ability to show at a 120Hz smooth refresh rate. On the display settings, you’re given a dual options between choosing a constant 60Hz or automatically switching between 10Hz to 120Hz depending on what you’re doing with the phone. We found the latter quite useful as you won’t notice when it lowers and it helps to minimise battery usage.

The HDR10+ feature is indeed a great adaptation for the Oppo Find X3 Pro. This is a 1-billion-colour display that shows over 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The integrated Full-Path Colour Management System as we mentioned makes sure that the photos you take, videos you stream, and the files you download don’t get compacted in the phone’s display.

Camera

Camera

The Oppo Find X3 Pro comes in quad rear camera setup of 50MP primary shooter, 50MP ultra-wide sensor, 13MP telephoto lens, and a 3MP micro-lens snapper. Upfront is an excellent 32MP selfie shooter.

Just like we saw in the Oppo Reno 5, the main camera and the ultra-wide lens are the same. These fairly big sensors can capture light and colour accurately, and can also take outstanding photos in perfect lighting conditions.

Pictures taken on the main camera looks stunning just as expected of a flagship device. It’s colourful, sharp and with plenty of details. Pictures are taken at 12.5MP via pixel binding by default, you can as well switch it to that 50MP if you prefer. Fortunately, there’s an option to switch to Night mode if you want. Night shots are stunning as well, especially in a super-dark setting.

When it comes to brightness and colour, pictures taken on the ultra-wide lens looks similar to that of the main camera (because they have the same sensor). However, the weak link here is the telephoto lens, 13MP isn’t that bad, but not ideal when compared to the periscope lens of the Find X2 pro. This telephoto lens supports 3x optical, 5x hybrid and 20x digital zoom.

Ever wondered what the micro-lens is, then you are not alone because it’s not normally seen on smartphones. This is a sensor basically designed for taking super close-up pictures of textures, fabrics or other tiny details that are impossible in your naked eyes, thanks to the Find X3 Pro’s 60x zoom which makes it possible. The 32MP selfie shooter is indeed an amazing camera with a high resolution and enough details as well.

Performance, Storage, and Software

With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset which happens to be the best Android processor currently, you are assured of a super-fast performance speed from the powerful Oppo Find X3 Pro which had a 3,257 Geekbench 5 benchmark score.

The Oppo Find X3 Pro is good for all types of games, thanks to its Adreno 660 GPU and of course 12GB of RAM. Also, Oppo’s game mode helps to mute notifications and optimize processing while you are gaming. The Oppo Find X3 Pro offers a smooth experience in some other ways including video streaming, browsing of the internet, and multitasking without any lag or high degree heating.

The Oppo Find X3 Pro comes big with 12GB of RAM, alongside 256GB of built-in storage. Unfortunately, there is no option for expandable storage since the 256GB of storage can contain all your files, but if you might need more, you can rely on cloud storage as there is room for two SIM cards. Meanwhile, you can decide to go for a USB-C adapter which will cost you a few bucks.

Oppo has its custom OS just like other Android phone makers. Oppo’s ColorOS is arguably ahead of Google’s operating system. However, the difference is most noticeable in their design, despite bringing in new features to the ColorOS 11.2.

Oppo Find X3 Pro’s Battery

The Oppo Find X3 Pro is fueled with a 4500mAh power tank. However, the smartphone on moderate use can last for a whole day, but with lots of video recording and gaming, the battery life might be limited to just 12 hours. This makes the phone’s battery difficult to last for 48 hours unless you’re using it only for calls and SMS. The 65W charging speed is amazing taking just 40min to charge your phone from empty to full battery. That’s among the fastest we have seen from most flagship phones although it’s slightly below OnePlus 9 Pro which takes lower time.

Meanwhile, you’re getting a 30W wireless charging feature which every fan would love to have. Also, the Oppo Find X3 Pro can be used as a primary dock to wireless charge other compatible gadgets.
