Samsung Galaxy A13 Review: Specs, Features, and Price in Nigeria

How much is the Galaxy A13 in Nigeria?

Samsung’s flagship devices are quite expensive, but the company has tons of good affordable phones to make up for it. The latest Samsung Galaxy A13 has much to offer in its $200 price tag. The company’s focus on good looking phones didn’t stop at flagship as they’re extending the latest attractive design to their mid-range phones too.

The Galaxy A13 is a reliable device with a strong battery, good performance, and a decent camera to bring out the beauty in you. None of this is a surprise to us as Samsung is known for its second to none quality products. It does everything you’d expect on a smartphone even more than some pricier ones. If you don’t have extra cash to spend on a more premium device, the Galaxy A13 is definitely the best option for you.

The Samsung Galaxy A13 comes as a direct successor to the A12 launched last year. It has some of the best features in the budget department without much hike in price. Here’s the full review, verdict, and price of the Galaxy A13 in Nigeria.

Design

The Galaxy A13 has a refined design that looks more like Samsung’s range of flagship lineups. It looks classier than what we expected, although there are thick bezels surrounding the 6.6-inch display with a tear-drop notch on top.

The rear panel of the phone has a plastic finish that looks like glass with three camera lenses and a LED flashlight in the top left corner with the SAMSUNG official logo sitting on the bottom. The quick satisfying power button and volume rockers are mounted on the right edge while there’s a combo SIM /microSD card slot on the left. On the down bottom is a 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, and USB-C port.

Fortunately, there’s a fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button just like recent flagship phones. Although the fingerprint reader is very fast but it’s not as sleek as the in-display scanners on high-end phones. Overall, the Galaxy A13 has an outstanding piece of hardware that’s plastic and suits every fan’s choice of design. However, the low-quality screen makes the display fingerprint prone, although it’s not any worse than you’d expect at this price point.

Display

We’re a bit surprised at how Samsung managed to build a $200 phone with a 440 ppi pixel density. This is something most brands struggle to put in their flagship phones. However, other display features of the phone are not worth it.

The 6.6-inch is showing at normal FHD+ (1080 × 2400 pixels) resolution which is bad in this era of smartphone evolution. The colours are not vibrant enough to keep you captivated by the phone for long. As much as a high refresh rate is needed, we’d have preferred a 60Hz panel alongside QHD resolution. But overall, the poor resolution and low contrast mean the screen won’t make it among the best in the budget category.

Samsung Galaxy A13 5G: Camera

The Galaxy A13 5G has a quad-camera setup with four on the rear and one upfront. The back camera department is headed by a 50MP primary shooter alongside a 5MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro camera and another 2MP depth sensor.

The phone’s primary camera produces decent photos in good light settings that are good for social media upload. However, the A13 camera struggles to kick out decent results in the low light environment due to the lack of dedicated Night mode. Meanwhile, the live preview in the camera app as you’re taking photos looks terrific but the final result looks much better.

The two other back cameras might as well be better left out entirely. They aren’t just good and we prefer having just a single camera than three that hardly does their job well. Unfortunately, there’s no ultra-wide lens and night mode in the camera app, meaning you’ll need to step up to the Galaxy A33 to get those features.

Performance and Software

Running on a Exynos 850 chip that’s paired with 4GB of RAM, the Galaxy A13 performed more than our expectations. Flicking through the home screen, keeping multiple tabs open and running multiple apps at the same time all went without any lag. Intensive games like Asphalt 9 and Call of Duty will play well if you don’t push the phone beyond its limit.

The Samsung Galaxy A13 includes a 64GB built-in storage that’s enough to keep you going if there’s no such thing to store on the phone. However, there’s a space for an SDcard slot that you can decide to go for in case the available storage is insufficient for you.

The Galaxy A13 is getting a surprisingly One UI 4.1 on top of Android 12 which is not bad for a budget smartphone. More interesting thing is that Samsung promises four years of security patches and at least two years of major Android updates for the A13. Although this is not unusual for Samsung, but it’s surprising seeing it on a budget smartphone.

Battery Capacity

Battery life is one of the strongest components of the Galaxy A13. The phone’s 5000mAh battery tank lasted for a couple of days in moderate usage involving a WiFi connection, a few hours of game time, and listening to music. A 15W fast charging support is among the least you can find on a smartphone, so there’s nothing much to talk about here.
