Samsung Galaxy A23 Review India: Features, Specs, and Price in Nigeria

Samsung Galaxy A23 Camera Performance and Price

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A23 lineup on 25 March 2022, thereby making it to the list of tons of budget phones already launched by the company this year. Over the years, the Samsung Galaxy A series has been shifted from being entry-level flagship phones to premium mid-range devices.

However, a few things have changed in the A-series lineup. The Galaxy A23 price is cheaper than we expected despite having a 90Hz refresh rate and strong 5000mAh battery capacity. There’s no doubt the Samsung Galaxy A23 offers more value than its price.

With a reminiscent design, powerful processors, quality camera performance, and durable battery, the Samsung Galaxy A23 has proven to be your best budget phone option. However, does the Galaxy A23 bring the promise of an affordable premium experience to the table? Read on to find out our detailed review and verdict about the phone.

  • Having the Galaxy F23 would be a dream come true for phone lovers

Design

Design and Display

The Samsung Galaxy A23 has a similar design to the popular Galaxy F23 which is one of the most impressive aspects of this device. The phone is built with a plastic material and glass upfront. However, there are other A series devices constructed with an aluminium frame, but they’re pricier than the Galaxy A23. We understand that Samsung’s decision of using plastic material is to keep the price low which we appreciate.

Flipping through the phone’s design is a raised camera bump housing the four sensors. Due to the glossy plastic frame, the Galaxy A23 can easily magnet fingerprints, thereby making you go for a silicone case for protection. The basic phone buttons are all placed in a typical A series fashion, with the power button doubling up as s fingerprint reader.

Also, the Galaxy A23 retains the 3.5mm headphone jack much to our surprise. There’s a dedicated slot for a microSD card, alongside an option for either single or dual SIM. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A23 design is excellent and a move away from the usual A series fashion apart from the poor build-up quality.

Samsung Galaxy A23
Display

The Galaxy A series has seen a display jump in recent years with most of them featuring an AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. However, the Samsung Galaxy A23 doesn’t sport any AMOLED panel, but instead, it comes with a PLS screen.

Meanwhile, the panel on the A23 isn’t bad, thanks to the addition of a 90Hz refresh rate. The 6.6-inch screen comes with Gorilla Glass 5, making it scratch and shatter-resistant. The phone’s display is showing at Full HD+ (1080 × 2400 pixels) resolution and has up to 400 ppi density.

Camera

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy A23 has a quad-camera set-up much to our surprise. Despite being an affordable device, the A23 still has up to four outstanding cameras making it one of the best in this category.

There’s a 50MP sensor leading the A23 camera department which is equipped with PDAF and OIS. Having OIS in a budget phone was a surprise to us as many entry-level phones lack any form of stabilisation technology. The other sensors of the phone are an 8MP ultra-wide lens and 2MP depth and macro shooters.

In reality, you’ll be stuck with the main camera as it does most of the heavy work flawlessly. The daylight performance of the camera is excellent with bright colours and great dynamic range. We found the edge detection better than other phones in this category but the camera fails slightly in a lowlight environment.

The 8MP front camera is a sharpshooter and does the job well more than you can ever imagine. When it comes to videography, the phone can take 4k videos at 30 fps. The OIS helps to stabilise the video while you’re in motion.

Processor and Performance

The Samsung Galaxy A23 features a MediaTek Dimesnity 700 5G based on the 6nm architecture.

While this is a mid-range processor from MediaTek, it doesn’t make the phone to lag while performing basic tasks. Casual users will have nothing to worry about on this device when it comes to day-to-day operations. Meanwhile, the phone can equally handle intensive games pretty well but don’t push it beyond its limit.

On the software side, users will be getting the latest Android 12 out of the box with the One UI 4.1 overlay. The latest Android and Samsung OSes add new functionality and customisation options to the Galaxy A23.

Battery Capacity

The Samsung Galaxy A23 comes with a standard 5000mAh battery life that’s found in almost all mid-range phones. Users can easily get more than 24 hours of active time when on moderate use. On the other hand, there’s a 25W fast charger included in the box.
