Design
At first sight, we were flattered by the design of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. Everything looks very satisfying, both the build quality and aesthetics. Nevertheless, that’s almost what we saw with the Galaxy Z Fold 3, so there aren’t many changes. You’ll hardly differentiate the two phones at first glance, but the little touches Samsung has made to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 are quite noticeable.
Therefore, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 now has a lower height, up to a 3mm difference when compared to its predecessor. Samsung also made little adjustments to the width and weight of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, so it weighs slightly less and is a bit slimmer than the Galaxy Z Fold 3. All of these wouldn’t be noticed with just a mere look, but you can tell when you pick the two phones.
The glossy rear and the flat edges are the changes you can easily notice, making the Galaxy Z Fold 4 look somehow different from its predecessor. The phone is protected with a Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the rear, and IPX8 water resistant.
The hinge that is always in between the two screens of foldable phones is also present on the Galaxy Z Fold, but this time a bit slimmer and narrower than the previous model. Samsung also did a nice job by making sure that the phone folds and unfolds without difficulty.

Display
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 may have the same size of the display as the Galaxy Z Fold 3, but one of them offers more viewing experience than the other, and that’s the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The phone’s cover display measures 6.2-inch, featuring an AMOLED panel, 120Hz Hz of refresh rate, and a 23.1:9 aspect ratio.
Samsung also trimmed the bezels which feel less thick now when compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The quality of the AMOLED panel is great, and it’s covered with a Corning Gorilla Victus+ for protection against scratches and drops.
The inner display of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 measures 7.6-inches which is also the same as its predecessor. Samsung has used the same panel for both displays which means they have the same quality. Being the producer of these panels, Samsung also made sure that the color production and brightness of this phone’s display are well improved.

Camera
Samsung didn’t make any changes to the camera setup of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, nor increase the pixel count of the under-display camera. As a flagship phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 doesn’t produce the best results when taking images. Though the new sub-pixel design looks to be making a good impact on the photo output, they often look watched out and soft.
Normally, foldable phones don’t capture the best images, so we were not disappointed with this phone’s camera performance. Though we saw improvements, they weren’t enough to reinstate what users love most about Samsung smartphones, speaking of phones like the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS. The three cameras still get the job done while taking pictures with the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The photo output is excellent with the help of OIS, so the camera doesn’t disappoint, at least for the most of images captured.
The little issue with the camera of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the overexposed shots from the main camera, but that could be solved with an update. In combination with Samsung’s Space Zoom technology, the 3x optical zoom allows you to stay further away and capture decent shots of objects. Also, you could be getting up to 20x digital zooming with the telephoto lens.
Performance, Storage, and Software
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 under the hood. This is the same chipset that was found on the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The chipset has shown persistence in handling extreme workloads, so we’re assured that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 can handle any task thrown at it. The phone will allow you to perform multiple tasks at once, and playing games will be a blissful experience.
With 12GB of RAM and 256GB /512GB /1TB of in-built storage, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 has enough space to store your data. As with the case of flagship phones, there’s no option for expansion of memory through a microSD card slot, so the only possible way to get more onboard storage is to get the higher storage variant which will cost you some extra money.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 becomes the first smartphone to ship the Android 12L, a special version of the Android OS that Google created for large-screen devices like this phone. Also, The Galaxy Z Fold 4 Is based on the One UI 4.1.1 interface.
Samsung has improved the user interface of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, providing an option to swipe up the split screen and pop-up view. Samsung has also added a taskbar which gives you a very special multitasking experience that feels like operating on a desktop.
There are also some noticeable changes on the Flex Mode which now works as a trackpad on the bottom centre of the screen. While all these changes have been made to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, you’ll still find the user interface very familiar if you’re a regular Samsung smartphone user.

Battery
While the battery of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is still the same 4,400mAh battery as its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 could be doing some magic when it comes to longevity. What we’re trying to say is that Samsung has improved the power efficiency of this phone in many areas. However, the 4,400mAh battery is more than enough to last for a full day.
Nevertheless, a higher battery capacity of 5,000mAh or even more isn’t too much to offer from a flagship phone, so we aren’t too convinced with the battery capacity of the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4: Price in Nigeria and Release Date
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 was revealed by Samsung on 10 August 2022, after which pre-orders commenced. Later on the 26 of the same month, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 was released globally with different color options such as Grey-green, Phantom Black, Beige, and Burgundy.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is selling at ₦1,232,000 ($1,799) for the base 256GB of storage variant. The higher storage variants are sold at ₦1,314,000 ($1,919) for 512GB, and ₦1,540,000 ($2,249) for 1TB.
