The latest Xiaomi Redmi 10C that was officially announced yesterday is already available in Nigeria. The company’s branch in Nigeria in their official social media handle posted some of the Redmi 10C pictures alongside the three colour options and its key specs.
The Xiaomi Redmi 10C arrived as a bigger model to the standard Redmi 10 (2021) and direct successor to the Redmi 9C launched in 2020. There’s no doubt the Redmi 10C has higher specs and performed better than its counterparts in the same category despite selling at a slightly cheaper price.
The Redmi 10C packed a massive 6.71-inch display with a water drop cutout notch for the selfie camera. On the textured back cover is a square-shaped camera module that also houses the fingerprint scanner. The phone is been powered by a top-tier Snapdragon 680 SoC chipset which delivers amazing phone performance.
Fortunately, we’ve had the Redmi 10C for a while now and brought out its total features, specifications, and current price in the Nigeria market.

Design and Display
The new Xiaomi Redmi 10C follows the company’s line of traditional design. We’ve got a smooth plastic textured rear frame that’s interrupted by a square camera module. The black coloured camera bump is equipped with various elements including three photographic sensors, a LED flash, and the fingerprint reader.
However, we’re very disappointed with Xiaomi’s decision of shifting the fingerprint scanner to the rear instead of the usual power button. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner is a feature Xiaomi has been using on her phones since the Redmi Note 9 Pro and up to the Redmi Note 10 series. This is a big downgrade as many fans are used to the side-mounted fingerprint reader.
Nevertheless, the rest of the Redmi 10C’s design is awesome and flagship-like. It comes in triple colour options of black, blue, and green. The power button, volume rockers, and SIM card slot are perfectly positioned between the right and left sides of the phone respectively.
Upfront is a 6.71-inch display with FHD+ (1080P) resolution that’s wide enough for watching movies, reading, or playing your favourite games. Despite missing out on top display features like AMOLED panel and 90Hz+ refresh rate, the Redmi 10C’s screen is quite vivid and colourful more than our expectations. Meanwhile, the phone’s 60Hz refresh rate is a big downgrade from the 90Hz that’s on Redmi 10.

Camera
Regarding the Redmi 10C camera, it’s worth knowing that you won’t get the best camera performance on a smartphone of this price. Similar to Redmi 10, the phone has a 50MP primary camera alongside a 2MP lens. Upfront is a 5MP selfie camera for amazing photography shots.
In daylight settings, the camera works well and deliver perfect photos above its competitors, credit to Xiaomi’s AI cam mode. Despite being a budget device, we are very impressed on how detailed photos taken are which makes the image quality incredible.

Performance and Software
One of the biggest features of the Xiaomi Redmi 10C is the inclusion of a top-notch Snapdragon 680 SoC chip. This is where the Redmi 10C outshines its Redmi 10 counterpart despite having some other lower specs.
The chipset will be supported by 4GB of RAM available in the 64GB and 128GB inbuilt storage variant. This will help the phone to deliver uninterruptible performance notwithstanding the task thrown at it.
Despite currently running on Android 11, the Redmi 10C will be among the few Xiaomi mid-range devices to get the latest Android 12 update. While some fans find Xiaomi’s interface confusing, we still prefer it to standard Android as it has some of the best customisations on a smartphone once you find your way around its settings.

Battery Capacity
Why battery life shouldn’t be considered while buying a smartphone as almost all phones are equipped with a durable battery that can comfortably last for a day and the Redmi 10C isn’t any different. The 5000mAh on the Xiaomi Redmi 10C can easily last for 48 hours on average use and 24 hours on heavy usage. Meanwhile, it comes equipped with an 18W fast charging support that can power the phone from empty to full battery in less than 2 hours.
