The new Xiaomi Redmi A1 Plus is an intriguing device with the latest Android 12 (Go Edition) software, with a MediaTek Helio A22 chipset and 5000mAh battery life to power it up. Meanwhile, the Redmi A1 Plus was launched a few days after the unveiling of Xiaomi’s new Redmi 11 Prime, Redmi 11 Prime 5G, and its lower sibling the Redmi A1.
The Xiaomi Redmi A1 Plus is the new phone every Xiaomi fan is probably talking about. Xiaomi has taken this phone to bring back everything we love most about the Mi 5X when it was released in 2017. Design and Display
From a far distance, you’ll find the Redmi A1 Plus very attractive. Despite not having all the premium materials like flagship phones, the leathery finish offers some kind of premium feel to the rear which gave the Redmi A1 Plus a quite unique appearance. Xiaomi has built this phone as a handset you can easily handle, so the build-up quality is decent.
There’s nothing more to expect from a budget smartphone other than a plastic body which looks good on this phone and doesn’t attract many fingerprints. There’s also a fingerprint scanner mounted on the rear of the Redmi A1 Plus alongside a camera bump that houses the triple camera setup.
The Xiaomi Redmi A1 Plus has a 6.52-inch display upfront, with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. The display has those bezels that are quite noticeable, but the big screen still has its way on the front panel, producing vibrant colors with enough brightness that maxes to 400nits.

Camera
On the back of the Xiaomi Redmi A1 Plus, the 8MP main sensor is accompanied by two auxiliary sensors. This means that there’re three lenses including the LED flashlight as seen on the rear of the Xiaomi Redmi A1 Plus. There’s also a 5MP sensor on the front panel which is good at selfies and also works for making video calls.
The camera performance of the Redmi A1 Plus isn’t that good. Though it captures some nice shots when there is light or during the day, it’s just not advisable to take pictures with it at night, but that’s quite understandable given that the phone’s price is cheap.

The Xiaomi Redmi A1 Plus packs a Mediatek Helio A22 chipset under the hood. The phone is available in two storage variants of 2GB /32GB and 4GB /64GB, which you can choose to expand to 512GB via the provided microSD card slot. This is absolutely not the best phone for performing all the heavy tasks or playing graphics-demanding games.
So you have to make sure that games don’t default to high frame rates to avoid issues of lag in performance or heating up of the system. However, this are premium devices that cost much, but the A1 Plus is a valuable option if you’re on a budget.

There hasn’t been any official announcement on when the Xiaomi Redmi A1 Plus will be released in India, but we’re pretty sure that it will be available in various colour options.
The Xiaomi Redmi A1 Plus will start selling in Nigeria at ₦57,000 and in India for INR6,990 which translates to $81 for the base 2GB /32GB variant.
