Oppo F19 Review: Specs, Features, and Price in Nigeria, US, and the UK

Is the Oppo F19 the best Budget device to buy in 2021?

Oppo is becoming increasingly one of the best options in the budget segment and that can be seen in the latest Oppo F19 device. The F19 is one of the few devices that offer eye-catching features this year. Meanwhile, it comes alongside a Pro 5G model which is a pretty good option for an aesthetically appealing 5G smartphone with some of the latest flagship features.

However, this time around, we have the Oppo F19 which has plenty of interesting attributes such as long battery life, an in-display fingerprint sensor, AMOLED panel, a 33W fast charging support, and many others. The Oppo F19 arrives as the third device in the company’s F19 series which includes the F19 Pro and F19 Pro+.

While the competition in mid-range phones is extremely ferocious with many brands trying to mark their names in the segment, it’ll be good to see how the F19 levels against other competitors. Meanwhile, most flagship brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, and Realme all have excellent standout offerings. Fortunately, we have had the Oppo F19 for a while now and brought out our unbiased review about the smartphone, alongside its price in Nigeria, US, and the UK, including an online store buy link.

Oppo F19 Key Specifications

  • Display: 6.43-inches AMOLED
  • Resolution: 1080 x 2400 pixels
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 662
  • Front Camera: 16-megapixel
  • Rear Camera: 48-megapixel 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel
  • RAM: 6GB
  • Storage: 128GB
  • Battery Capacity: 5000mAh
  • OS: Android 11 ColorOS 11.1

Design and Display

In terms of design, the Oppo F19 has a flagship-like design that’ll leave you bewildered. It borrows some of the design elements of the more expensive F19 Pro which makes them a bit identical. You can buy the F19 in any of the Space Silver, Midnight Blue, and Prism Black colour options. However, while the F19 has a fantastic build-up, its glossy glass rear panel is a fingerprint magnet. Meanwhile, you can prevent this by using the provided silicon case or buying your preferred case.

Fortunately, the Oppo F19 is extremely lightweight and thin with a net weight of 175g which makes it feel more premium. Turning to the back is a small “OPPO” logo and vertically arranged camera sensors tucked in the upper left corner of the handset. Unlike other mid-rangers, the Oppo F19 has an in-display fingerprint scanner which adds to its premium look.

When it comes to ports, the F19 has a USB-C port placed at the bottom corner which is accompanied by a 3.5mm headphone jack and the phone’s speaker. Meanwhile, on the top right corner is the power button while the volume rockers are positioned on the left alongside the SIM tray. Unfortunately, this makes the phone look awkward as most recent phones have their power and volume buttons placed on the same side.

Nevertheless, the buttons are tactile and easy to reach. Also, the tray on the left side accommodates both the dual-SIM card and microSD card.

Coming over to the front panel is a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution (1080 × 2400 pixels). However, there’s no refresh rate support which is a big downgrade as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max with the same price as the F19 has a 120Hz refresh rate support. Meanwhile, the Oppo F19 other display specs are pretty awesome especially a 20:9 aspect ratio that’s good for viewing content on YouTube, surfing the internet, or playing games.

The Oppo F19 display is interrupted by a small dot-hole cutout that houses the selfie camera. Also, the Oppo F19 display is bright, vivid, and colourful that makes streaming movies a pleasure. The phone recorded 800 nits max brightness level as advertised which is pretty bright for using the phone under sunlight. Overall, the Oppo F19 display is a solid one but not compared to Realme 8 Pro or Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Max that come with high refresh rate settings.

Oppo F19: Camera

The Oppo F19 is equipped with a triple camera set-up at the rear consisting of a 48MP main shooter which is accompanied by a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Unfortunately, the phone misses out on ultrawide lens which is disappointing as other competitors have it.

In nice daylight settings, the F19 primary camera takes great photos with good natural colours and a nice dynamic range. However, the reverse was the case in lowlight shots as images are filled with grains, but they’re somehow worthy of social media upload. Fortunately, there’s a Night mode that helps brighten up photos although not as perfect as many would wish.

Upfront is a 16MP selfie camera that takes pretty good looking photos. Also, the beauty filters applied by default makes it great and undeniably one of the best you can find at this price range. Videos are great too especially in daylight settings and you can shoot 1080p videos at 30 frames per second (fps).

Processors and Software

While the Oppo F19 has an average display, the same cannot be said for its hardware. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset is pretty good for a phone of this price. Also, the phone comes with a single storage option of 6GB of RAM and 128GB. However, in our Geekbench test, the F19 sits below the Realme 8 Pro and Xiaomi Redmi 10 Pro Max.

When it comes to gaming, you can enjoy midrange games in high-resolution settings with this phone. However, high-end games like PUGB and Call of Duty Mobile played with 77% stability at high graphics settings. Meanwhile, the phone does really great in day to day performance but it’s somehow sluggish in multitasking or switching between open tabs. The overall performance of the Oppo F19 is good when compared to its price but we don’t recommend the device to mobile game fans.

Moving on to the software is the Google Android 11 with ColourOS 11.1 overlay. The Oppo UI looks clean with lots of customisable options. However, it comes loaded with plenty of apps that occupy 10% of the phone’s storage. While you can delete some of the apps, a good number of them are undeletable.

Oppo F19: Battery Capacity

Despite being a lightweight device, the Oppo F19 packs an impressive 5000mAh battery life. The phone can easily last light users for 48 hours or an entire day if you’re an average user. However, the Snapdragon 662 chipset is a battery drainer as you’ll see most phones with more power-efficient chipset but the same battery capacity lasts longer.

Fortunately, the Oppo F19 is bundled with up to a 33W fast charger which is impressive and can power the device from empty to full battery in less than 90 minutes.

Oppo F19: Price in Nigeria, US, and the UK

  • Price in Nigeria: ₦107,000
  • Price in the US: $260
  • Price in the UK: £188

Undeniably, the Oppo F19 is a top-notch device you can’t afford to miss especially when selling at a cheap price. As of the time of this writing, you can buy the phone at ₦107,000, $260, and £188 for Nigeria, US, and UK residents respectively. Also, the device is available at Amazon, AliExpress, and other reputable online and offline stores worldwide.
