Poco M3 Pro 5G: Full Specifications, Features, and Current Price in Nigeria

In the budget end of the sub-brand tech giant, having been built with fancy designs and great specifications, this almighty Poco M3 Pro 5G device is the best smartphone for you this year. It comes as the Pro model of the Poco M3 launched last year but with an amazing display, better processors, more camera enhancements, and superb battery life.

Poco, an independent brand from Xiaomi has been a top-notch company because of its high-end affordable smartphone spectrum. Poco has produced some amazing devices ranging from F1, F3, X3, M2, M3, etc and the M3 Pro 5G is the latest device to be added to its collection. In many ways, Poco has proven to be the king of budget smartphones and that has once again been proven on the M3 Pro 5G.

Entering the smartphone, it has a large 6.5-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a fast 6GB of RAM, up to 48-MP triple rear camera with 8-MP upfront, and an enormous 5000mAh battery capacity. Fortunately, it throws in a 5G connectivity which ranks it above other mid-rangers.

However, a smartphone is not just all about amazing specifications rather its responsiveness in day-to-day usage. Does the Poco M3 Pro 5G has an impressive experience like it’s on paper? And while it sells for a cheap price, does it really worth your money? Find out on our official Poco M3 Pro 5G full review including its current price in the Nigerian market.

Poco M3 Pro 5G: Design and Build-up

Good design at a cheap price could be all you need to get this smartphone. Typically, this smartphone follows the trendy gross finish plastic rear. It is certainly worth more than the price. Also, the build-up quality is strong and smooth to hold. However, there isn’t any flex to hold your hand although the balance is decent while at your hand.

On the right side is the home to the volume rockers and fingerprint sensor which doubles as the power button. What distinguishes this excellent smartphone and makes it unique is the boldly scripted POCO badge under the camera island at the top left rear corner. Paired with a glossy finish, it all makes the device one of the best designed Poco smartphones.

One feature of the Poco M3 Pro 5G that’s quite noticeable is its large 6.5-inch size. Although the screen isn’t the largest in the market, it’s wide enough for streaming videos and playing games. With 161.8 x 75.3 x 8.9 mm and 190g weight, the Poco M3 Pro is very comfortable for one-hand use. Other inclusions of the phone are a 3.5mm headphone jack, speaker grill, IR blaster, and USB-C port.

The Poco M3 Pro 5G is readily available for purchase in Poco Yellow, Cool Blue, and Power Black colour options. Unfortunately, there’s no official water-resistant rating which is rare to find on a smartphone at this price. Generally, the Poco M3 Pro 5G has a world-class design that’s good for this price tag.

Poco M3 Pro 5G:Display

A great smartphone is the one with an outstanding display and the phone doesn’t lack on that. Despite its cheap price, this Poco device manages to pack in a durable display that’s above its budget class.

At 6.5-inch, this phone’s screen is interrupted by a pinhole notch that houses the selfie camera. With 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution, it’s one of the best smartphones for streaming videos, reading, or playing games. One of the outstanding features of the Poco M3 Pro 5G’s screen is the inclusion of a 90Hz refresh rate rather than the normal 60Hz that’s on most phones of this price. This paves way for greater smoothness while in use and faster image refresh.

However, the only drawback of the Poco M3 Pro display is the lack of OLED or AMOLED panel which is available on most competitors. The IPS LCD panel is the same found on the normal Poco M3 which is rather disappointing as we expected an upgrade. However, it’s quite good for normal day-to-day use but you’ll find it difficult to view content on the screen while in sunlight.

Cameras

As we all already know that lots of megapixels don’t usually necessitate a good camera. Keen to impress, Poco equipped the Poco M3 Pro 5G with a 48-MP primary camera, 2-MP macro camera, and another 2-MP depth sensor. Undoubtedly, the Poco M3 Pro 5G is blessed in the camera department at least to some extent, unlike its competitors.

Given that great camera performance won’t be expected on a phone of this price, expectations weren’t high on the M3 Pro either. However, it still manages to impress us with well-detailed photos in lighted scenarios. However, lowlight performance was nothing to write home about as most photos lack quality coupled with insufficient details. However, if you’re not that interested in camera performance, the Poco M3 Pro 5G is good for you.

Meanwhile, the 8-MP selfie camera is considered the best of the 4 camera departments. The Poco M3 Pro 5G’s selfie camera really impressed us with a well-detailed photo which is shot with a Beauty filter at default. On the video category, the device maxes out at 1080p which is similar to other mid-rangers.

Poco M3 Pro 5G: Hardware Performance and Software

The Poco M3 Pro 5G is truly a flagship killer when it comes to performance. The MediaTek Density 700 chipset and either 4GB or 6GB of RAM has all it takes to give you a snappy performance. In real-time use, it’s one of the fastest midrange phones we’ve come across.

However, when it comes to high-end gaming, you won’t get the best performance rather fairly manageable. You won’t get the fastest frame rates and the device heats over time. On benchmark test, the Poco M3 Pro 5G levels against Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G and Google Pixel 4a 5G. However, the Poco M3 Pro 5G will be a great addition for fans who want the best performance at a cheap price. A big advantage is the inclusion of a 5G connection as noted in the device name. 5G connection is rare to find on midrange phones as most of them are only capped at 4G LTE.

The Poco M3 Pro 5G runs on the latest Android 11 operating system with MIUI 12 on the top overlay. Fortunately, it’s expected to receive the next Android 12 update in the coming months which is a great advantage for fans who love to stay updated with the Google software. However, the latest MIUI 12 brings a lot of tweaks including Screen recorder, Dark mode, Nearby share, Security scan, Dual apps, Quick Ball, App lock, Second space, Game turbo, Floating window, etc.

Battery Capacity

Another selling point of the Poco M3 Pro 5G is its gigantic 5,000mAh battery life. Although this is a bit smaller than the 6,000 on the normal Poco M3, it still manages to outshine its predecessor. Fortunately, this is a two-day smartphone as advertised on normal use which has been proven to be true by many users.

When it comes to charging, Poco ships in an 18-watt fast charger in the box. This restored the phone from 0 to 35% in 30 minutes and full battery in less than 90 minutes.

Poco M3 Pro 5G Price in Nigeria and Availability

While you might not be familiar with the name Poco, it’s a sub-brand of the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi. The Poco M3 Pro 5G was launched on May 22, 2021, and has similar specs to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G.

The Poco M3 Pro 5G comes in two different variants of 64GB that’s on sale for ₦90,000 ($220) and the 128GB model you can buy for ₦115,000 ($282). Both of the handset’s variants are available for purchase at Jumia or other top online and offline stores in Nigeria.
