Design
Tecno has improved the design of this phone, something we can call a fresh new design. First of all, we’ve got to notice that Tecno has trimmed down this phone a little bit to become slimmer when compared to its previous mid-range smartphones. At first glance, you will definitely be amazed at the back panel’s spackling and shiny surface which you will question if that’s really a plastic material.
The Tecno Pova 5G plastic back panel has a dual-tone mix of textured and plain finish which features a Manchester City Football club logo. While on the plain skin at the left, there’s a vertically placed camera module housing the three cameras. The back panel can easily attract smudges and fingerprints so it’s necessary to use the dedicated transparent case in the box.
The volume keys alongside the power button which has a fingerprint scanner built in it, are placed on the right side. In the left corner, you can find the SIM /microSD card slot. The bottom panel features a USB Type-C port which is placed in the middle of a 3.5mm headphone jack and a speaker grille. Display
The Tecno Pova 5G’s display features a 6.9-inch FHD+ screen. This is one of the biggest screen we’ve seen on a 5G device. However, Tecno has stuck with the IPS LCD panel while upgrading its specs in each of its new phones. Arriving in their new 5G mobile phone, we witnessed one of the best versions of this IPS LCD panel, reaching up to 120Hz of refresh rate which makes scrolling through different apps on your screen very smooth and fast.
The screen displays decent colours and content with sharp contrast which you will enjoy while watching movies or playing games. The brightness levels are quite good but aren’t enough to use under direct sunlight which might make you struggle a bit with visibility. The Tecno Pova 5G features a centre punch-hole cutout on the top of the screen for the selfie camera.

Camera
Tecno has done a good job to make this phone’s camera stand out well. The Tecno Pova 5G sports a triple camera setup at the back with the main camera having a 50MP lens. The second camera has a 2MP lens while the last is an Al lens. We’re satisfied with this phone’s shooting ability especially with the main camera. The 50MP sensor can capture nice pictures with enough details and decent point of view. You can also access some shooting modes like the HDR, Al cam, and AR shots.
The other sensors help the main camera to achieve the same goal, especially with portrait shots where they produce beautiful background blurs. Images captured during the day appear to be more detailed than at night. Though the camera app features a dedicated Night mode which doesn’t solve the problem entirely but makes it look much better.
The selfie camera has a 16MP sensor which can take some nice selfies including portrait shots. You can also record videos and make video calls with the front camera.

The Tecno Pova 5G is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 900 chipset which is an octa-core processor. This chipset is built with a 6nm process technology, and it powers some 5G phones like the Infinix Zero 5G and Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G. This means that the Tecno Pova 5G is equally a strong smartphone as well. There’s a fast and lag-free performance while performing your day-to-day tasks and watching of movies, web browsing and gaming.
The Tecno Pova 5G has 8GB of RAM which is paired with 128GB of internal storage. The dedicated microSD card slot helps you expand the phone’s storage up to 512GB.
Running the Pova 5G is Tecno’s HiOS 8.0 which is based on the Android 11 operating system. Tecno hasn’t stated if this phone will get the Android 12 update, but we’re sure that this phone will be getting monthly security patches.

Debuting with a 6000mAh battery capacity which is considered the biggest in basic Android phone, the Pova 5G users might have many things to worry about, but definitely not a low battery notification.
