Android 12: Samsung software support system is one of the best in the smartphone industry. The company guarantees at least three years of major software updates and up to four years of security updates for its devices.

Android 12 is the 2022 version of Google’s software but Samsung has already launched the update to its Galaxy users less than a month after Google’s Pixel phones. Samsung rolled out the Android 12 update together with its own One UI 4.0 to most devices.

Fortunately, Samsung has a confirmed list of her Galaxy devices that’ll receive the Android 12 and One UI 4.0 updates. Although more devices will be added in the upcoming months, here are the already confirmed smartphones divided by categories.

There’s no doubt Android 12 is one of the biggest updates from Google although most of the design changes are completely limited to the platform’s Pixel devices. However, Samsung has further improved the OS by bringing in more changes to the One UI 4.0.

Similar to Google Pixel, Android 12 on Samsung Galaxy devices make all widgets to have rounded corners including the introduction of a new design language for some of them. Meanwhile, most of the built-in apps now have a new design language. The Android 12’s Dynamic Colour feature can pull colours from your wallpaper and automatically apply them to the phone’s apps.

There is a new notifications enhancement in the Android 12, with a new tiny indicator showing beside the battery icon when the camera or microphone is in use.

The list of smartphones and tablets that’ll eventually get the Android 12 are quite large as it generally include every device released within the past two years. So far, the following devices have been confirmed by Samsung:

 

Samsung Galaxy S

The Galaxy S series has already seen Android 12 software update rolling out to some device owners globally. The Android 12 rollout started last year with Samsung Galaxy S21 series and the rest S20 and S10 lineups received theirs in the first couple of months of 2022.

Meanwhile, the Android 12 software rollout started with a beta stage in November 2021 to prepare the devices ahead of the stable version that’ll be updated in January and February of this year.

The Samsung Galaxy Note lineup which hasn’t gotten many models will see only 6 of its devices eligible for Android 12. The list includes only the Note 10 and Note 20 series. Samsung already rolled out the beta version to the Note 20 lineup but has decided to extend updates to the Note 10 series in January this year.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note 20 owners already received the stable form of Android 12 in some regions since December 2021. The Galaxy Note 10 followed behind, with many regions getting the Android 12 stable version in early January.

Samsung Galaxy Foldables

The Samsung line of Galaxy Foldable phones have been glowing since its debut in 2019. Fortunately, the entire Galaxy Foldable devices are eligible for One UI 4.0 and Android 12 with the company already rolling out the beta program to Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 since November 2019.

Meanwhile, Samsung started rolling out the stable version of Android 12 to both Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 in some regions, with the Galaxy Z Flip, Flip 5G, and Galaxy Z Fold 2 following up. The standard Galaxy Fold alongside the China-only Galaxy W22 received the Android 12 and One UI 4.0 update in January this year.

The Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 are the first A-series product to receive the Android 12 update during the first week of January 2022.
