The Nokia C32 is the latest offering from the legendary phone brand, boasting of a massive 5000mAh battery, USB-C port, 50MP camera lens, and up to 4GB /128GB storage space.

One great feature of this phone is the dropping of micro-USB in place of USB-C which will delight everyone as there’s no greater joy than having a unique charger for all your devices. Also, the Nokia C32 offers great value for money due to its affordability despite having a sleek attractive design like that of a flagship phone.

However, a few features made the C32 device a bit anchored in the race for superior choices. Some of them include sticking with a 10W charger which takes a long time to refill the battery, plus an octa-core 1.6GHz Unisoc SC9863A1 chipset that’s a bit outdated and cannot handle most high-end games. Design

Undoubtedly, the Nokia C32 has one of the finest sleek aesthetics you’ll see on a budget phone. There’s nothing to criticise about the phone’s design as it features a striking two-tone design with a glass back that’s available in either Charcoal, Autumn Green or Beach Pink colors.

This makes the C32 look a bit like a flagship phone despite having some budget features. Not only that, the smartphone is IP52 rated against splash and dust which is cool, but we expect something like IP64 rating on the next model. One good thing about the Nokia C32 is that it’s an eye grabber and doesn’t attract fingerprints because of the reflective glass back.

The C32 is more premium than we thought due to the reliable side-mounted fingerprint reader that doubles up as the power button. Next to it is the volume rocker while the other left side is occupied by the SIM tray which has a space for two Nano-SIMs and microSD card (up to 256GB). Display

The Nokia C32 didn’t near the top of the list when it comes to the best Android phone’s display, so you need to keep your expectations low as regards the display quality.

The 6.5-inch IPS screen is showing at 720 × 1600 pixels resolution that refreshes at 60Hz. It’s bright enough indoors, but you’ll struggle to see what’s showing on the screen while under direct sunshine even with the brightness level tuned to the highest. However, it’s a decent buy for students or those who don’t care about the phone’s display quality.

Camera Performance

The Nokia C32 has a triple camera lens with two at the back and one up front. Fortunately, the phone’s glass back is occupied with a 50MP primary shooter alongside a 2MP macro sensor and an 8MP lens upfront.

Of course, cameras aren’t going to be your primary priority when buying a phone of this price, but the C32 does great in some scenarios. Images taken in good lighting conditions tend to be great with natural colors and well-balanced exposure. The detailing of the photo is fine with good dynamic range, but the same couldn’t be said in lowlight shots. The subject of the photos in lowlight shots is blurry even with the use of LED flash which could have been better.

Selfies with the 8MP camera turn out sharp but are sometimes oversaturated. On the video recording aspect, the C32 sensors top out at 1080p at 30fps. The camera app doesn’t have many features that’ll enhance camera and video performance, especially the much-needed video stabilisation. However, it’s something you’ve to deal with as most phones of this price don’t come with the feature.

The Nokia C32 is powered by a Unisoc SC9863A1 chipset alongside 3GB/ 4GB of RAM. Fortunately, it has dual storage configurations of 64GB and 128GB which can be upgraded to 256GB via the SDcard slot.

As expected, the device struggles to handle most RAM-demanding tasks even with some normal day-to-day tasks due to the mediocre processor. You’ll notice some frequent pauses and slowdowns while switching between apps or with several Chrome tabs open. However, this is what you’ll expect on a phone of this price.

Fortunately, the Nokia C32 runs on stock Android 13 out of the box. Also, you’re guaranteed two-year future OS updates and four years of quarterly security patches to keep you updated with the latest Google Android customizations and protection. The Nokia C32 was launched on February 23, 2023, and is currently selling at a price of ₦90,000 (roughly $100). This puts it at a much lower price than the Motorola Moto G62 (₦170,000), but a bit costlier than the latest iTel A60s (₦57,000).

At this price, the Nokia C32 falls slightly in the race for budget smartphones. Chief among them is the Xiaomi Redmi 10A (₦85,000) which offers similar specs and performance. The next in line is the Tecno Spark 8C (₦88,000), but slightly below the C32.
