The most anticipated Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 series has been launched, and these are the Chinese company’s first budget smartphones to grace 2022 which you’ll be able to buy soon. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S was launched as a bigger sibling to the original Redmi Note 11 with differences in memory, processor, and cameras.
Although the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 line has been launched in India and China in late 2021, it just hit the global market recently and will be available for purchase in Nigeria this month. These new devices differ from their same-name counterparts in China and India, so be careful of the model you’re buying.
There’s no doubt the beginning of this year is a busy period for Xiaomi, and as well its new Rdmi Note phones including the Note 11 Pro 5G and Note 11. We’re also expecting a new Redmi 12 very soon which might be joined by Xiaomi 12 Ultra and probably a Lite version too.
We’ve lots of details about the new Redmi Note 11S and here’s everything we know about the phone.

Design and Display
The design of the Redmi Note 11S and Note 11 are basically the same, with similar minimalistic style, glass body on both sides, camera bumps, and fairly plain designs. The device features a length of 159.9mm and a width of 73.9mm with a net weight of 179g. When it comes to the quality of the manufacturing, this is the closest flagship we’ve seen on a mid-range smartphone and further reinstated Xiaomi culture of providing high-quality products to its users.
The front and back panels are not 2.5D (not curved), but completely flat like other Note series. The Note 11S debuts in triple colour options of Twilight Blue, Pearl White, and Graphite Gray. The device has a flat, clean back panel that’s fingerprint resistant and very comfortable to hold in the hand.
Meanwhile, the most interesting feature of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S design is the quad rear camera bump that’s accompanied by a LED flash with the Redmi logo below it. As for ports, the phone comes with complete ports and button setup of USB type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a powerful loudspeaker. The buttons just like other Redmi phones are integrated into the right corner with the SIM card and memory slot on the left side.
Next, display, a 6.43-inch AMOLED panel that offers a decent viewing experience despite its small size compared to other modern devices. The display has an FHD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) resolution with 409 PPI density. Furthermore, Xiaomi has upgraded the refresh rate to 90Hz for a smoother experience in addition to the 180Hz touch sensitivity rate that enhances the gaming experience.
Although this is not the best smartphone screen, being in the budget category, you’re getting above the value of what you paid for, coupled with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection.
One of the key selling points of the Note 11S lies in its cameras. In terms of the specifications, you’re getting a Samsung 108MP primary sensor which is a massive upgrade from the 50MP on the Note 11. For the rest of the cameras, you have an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro camera, and another 2MP depth sensor.
Although we’re yet to be convinced of the much value of the 2MP cameras most manufacturers integrate into their handsets, but we’re overwhelmed by the Note 11S 108MP main camera performance. So if a camera is one of your top priorities on a smartphone, you’ll not find better than this.
There’s also a 16MP selfie camera embedded in the punch-hole cutout in the front panel. This camera also doubles up as face unlock. Furthermore, you can shoot good 1080p videos at 30fps from both the front and back cameras of the smartphone.

Performance, Storage, and Software
In terms of performance, the Note 11S offers a smooth experience in most of its basics including streaming videos, multi-tasking, browsing the internet, or strolling through your social media feeds. Everything worked perfectly without any lag or high-degree heating.
Although the Note 11S and Note 11 have a similar design, the processors aren’t the same as the Note 11S is integrated with MediaTek Helio G96 octa-core that’s manufactured using 12nm process technology. On the other hand, the normal Redmi Note 11 is paired with the Snapdragon 680 chipset which is a low-end processor.
For memory, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S has an improved 6GB and 8GB of RAM that is paired with storage options of 6GB /64GB, 6GB /128GB, and 8GB /128GB. This is partnered with turbo-charged UFS 2.2 storage and fast LPDDR4X memory that produces super-fast performance and file cache function with an option of expansion via a microSD card up to 1TB.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S runs on Android 11 with MIUI 13 overlay. Furthermore, it’s among the many Xiaomi products that’ll receive the Android 12 update. Therefore, the system introduces a whole lot of features and customisable options.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S: Battery
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S has a built-in 5000mAh Li-Po battery that’s big enough to last all day long. However, the most interesting feature of this phone’s battery is the 33W fast charging support that’ll completely charge your phone from empty to the full battery within an hour.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S: Price in Nigeria and Availability
Xiaomi revealed when the Note 11 series will be available in the Nigerian market and we’re expecting them to be on sale this February. In the UK, the devices will officially go on sale on February 24 which is likely to be the date for international release too.
