Design

Design and Display

The Infinix Hot 12 has a flat edge body design with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. We love how Infinix shifted the fingerprint to the side as it gave the phone a more flagship look. The back is made up of plastic that’s glossy and easily attracts fingerprints, while the front is glass. Fortunately, the Infinix Hot 12 has amazing colour options of Racing Black, Legend White, Origin Blue, and Lucky Green.

Moving over to the back, you’ll be welcomed by two big camera bumps that are similar to the ones on the OnePlus 9 series. This is undeniably the best part of the phone’s design. Coming down to the bottom are the headphone jack, micro-USB charging port, and speaker grill. The power button and volume rockers are perfectly positioned at the top right corner for easy hand reach and they’re tactile enough than that of the Hot 11.

Display

Unlike the Infinix Hot 12i, the base Hot 12 comes with a bigger 6.82-inch IPS LCD screen, but with the same 720 × 1612 pixels resolution. This alongside 170.5 x 77.6 x 8.3 mm dimensions will bring out a magnificent display with stunning colours that’ll be good for outdoor use. The 90Hz refresh rate coupled with a punch-hole camera cutout makes the Hot 12 unique.

In addition, is an 82.4% screen-to-body ratio that brings out an immersive viewing experience that will make your gaming session a memorable one. While the phone has a poor 271ppi density, it’s still preferable to some mid-rangers in the market.

Camera

Camera

The triple camera setup on the Infinix Hot 12 comprises of a 13MP primary shooter alongside a 2MP depth sensor and another 2MP macro lens. Moving upfront you’ll be welcomed by an 8MP sensor that’s hidden inside the punch hole cutout notch and perfectly takes care of the phone’s selfie photography.

The Infinix Hot 12 comes with plenty of camera features including AI cam, Bokeh, Beauty, Super night mode, Panorama, etc. In terms of performance, these cameras delivered even above expectations, especially in ideal lighting conditions. However, lowlight camera performance is nothing to write home about as photos were taken with lack of details and are not bright enough.

The video is pegged at 1080p as there are the absence of 2k and 4k compatibility. Unfortunately, there’s no difference between the Infinix Hot 12 and Hot 12i photography as they both have the same camera specs and performance.

Performance and Software

Performance and Software

Powering the Hot 12 is a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset alongside dual 3GB or 4GB of RAM depending on the variant you’re going for. Furthermore, the Hot 12 is a good gaming phone as you can comfortably play mid-range games without any lag. However, intense games won’t play well in high refresh rate settings rather at medium for a smooth gaming experience. That doesn’t mean you can’t use the Hot 12 for heavy gaming, but bear in mind you won’t get the best performance.

When it comes to storage, there’s a 128GB of storage space that can be expanded up to 1TB via SDcard.

With Android 12 and XOS 7.6, you’re getting system-wide dark mode, a new gesture navigation option, updated security settings, native screen recording, Game Turbo, and many others. The latest Android update integrated into the Infinix Hot 12 gave it an edge over its Hot 12i sibling. This is the first Infinix phone to get Android 12 and we’re glad it’ll be among those to receive Android 13 next year.

Similar to most Android phones, you’ll be receiving unwanted notifications to download certain apps which are annoying. However, you can easily restrict some apps from sending you notifications by going to the phone’s settings. Meanwhile, some of these ads are unavoidable so you have to manage them.

Battery Capacity and Charging

Battery Capacity

The Infinix Hot 12 is powered by a 5000mAh battery life that allows you to use the phone for up to 48 hours without connecting it to a charger. Being an average user, you’re guaranteed 24-hour active status on a full charge.

Fortunately, the phone packs an 18W fast charger that’s ok for a device at the price point. This will ensure your phone gets juiced up faster once connected to a power supply.
