Design
Just like most Xiaomi phones, the design of the Xiaomi 12 is a unique one. We are very much impressed with how Xiaomi designed this phone shifting the whole control buttons to one corner of the phone. This means you can easily access the phone’s volume and power button While your hands are placed on its right corner. On the same right corner, you will find a dual SIM tray. Down to the lower end of this smartphone, there’s a stereo loudspeaker, a USB Type-C port but unfortunately, there is no headphone jack.
Despite having this huge screen size, the Xiaomi 12 measures just 69.9mm in width and 180g in weight putting it in the slim category. The smartphone’s screen curves from the side to meet the rounded glass panel. This makes the phone sit comfortably on your palms and is quite enjoyable to handle.
At the back panel of the Xiaomi 12, there is a camera bump that houses the three-camera setup. Looking at how the three cameras were arranged, you can easily say that the bigger one is the main camera shooter while the two smaller ones below are for the other cameras. Also, there is a 480Hz touch sampling rate that gives the phone a responsive display screen for playing competitive games.
With a Full HD+ resolution, the Xiaomi 12 presents a unique display that can be very comfortable to watch content on. The display produces a colourful picture quality with 1200 nits of peak brightness making the phone quite usable in a sunny environment. The display also features the selfie shooter on its top centre down to its lower section where there is a fingerprint scanner.
Camera
Unlike last year’s Xiaomi Mi 11 with a 108MP sensor, Xiaomi however started this year with a 50MP camera shooter for the Xiaomi 12 out of its triple camera setup. The main camera is sponsored by Sony’s IMX66 sensor which is normally seen in most flagship phones. The 50MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture can take good pictures with excellent colour accuracy.
Having a three camera setup, the Xiaomi 12’s main camera is accompanied by an ultra-wide camera and a telemacro camera. The 13MP ultra-wide camera comes with an f/2.4 aperture and a 123° field of view, while there is a 5MP telemacro camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a focal length of 500mm.
To sum up the whole three sensors, the phone has an impressive camera that can capture nice pictures. The video quality is excellent with 1080p and 4k resolutions. It also features portrait mode which creates a Bokeh effect that blurs the background.
