Android 12 and MIUI 13: Release Date and Eligible Xiaomi Phones

List of Xiaomi Devices that'll be getting Android 12 based MIUI 13

Google officially launched the latest version of its mobile operating system – Android 12 back in October 2021. Xiaomi just like other Android OEMs has started rolling out the latest Android 12 alongside its own MIUI 13 to a host of eligible devices.

The Android 12 and MIUI 13 update covers the entire Mi 11 and Mi 11T series, going back to the recently released Redmi Note 11, the Redmi Note 10 series, 2021 Redmi Note 8, and Redmi 10 from last year.

Fortunately, some of the budget phones like the Redmi 9 Prime, Redmi 9, Redmi Note 9, Poco M2, and the rest which were launched with Android 10 out of the box and got the Android 11 last year as their first major update will also be getting the latest Android 12 as their second major update. This is because Xiaomi phones are known to be getting two major Android updates which is a nice gesture from the company.

There’s no doubt the new operating system will add interesting tweaks and features to the UI of eligible Xiaomi devices. Fortunately, we’ve prepared a list of eligible Xiaomi devices that’ll be getting the latest Android 12 that’ll be rolled out alongside MIUI 13 skin.

Android 12 based MIUI 13

Every phone OEMs deliver its own skin and Xiaomi MIUI 13 is also bringing certain features for its users. These include an optimised processor, Liquid Storage, RAM resource allocation, revamped user interface, and lots more.

The Android 12 was officially released on October 4 2021 through Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and it started rolling out to supported Google Pixel devices on October 19. Meanwhile, the MIUI 13 was unveiled at a launch event in China on December 28, 2021, and Xiaomi revealed plans of rolling it out alongside the Android 12 to its users.

Interestingly, Xiaomi claims that the Liquid Storage feature will reduce device fragmentation by up to 95% which will reduce the slow down of the phone as it ages. The new widget options will allow users to customise the App Vault on the home screen. Also, there’s a “Sidebar” just like in Samsung that allows users to access a selected range of apps simply by swiping to the side without leaving their current app.
