iTel S17 Review: Camera, Full Specifications, and Current Price in Nigeria

How much is the iTel S17 in Nigeria?

iTel Mobile, one of the sub-brand of the Transsion Holding company has finally launched another smartphone into its Selfie ‘S’ midrange series. The iTel S17 was launched just a year after the release of iTel S16 in September 2020. Undoubtedly, the device set a new pace for midrange phones as it packs the necessary features required in a smartphone while selling at a cheap rate.

Meanwhile, the iTel S17 is specifically targeted at low-income earners who want the best in a smartphone but couldn’t afford to pay much for it. There’s no doubt the S17 is the best device from iTel yet as it debuts with lots of upgrades we haven’t seen on iTel smartphone before. A 6.6-inch HD+ display with up to 2GB of RAM, 32GB built-in storage, and a whopping 5000mAh battery capacity are more than enough to make this device a mid-range killer.

Undoubtedly, the iTel S17 is a new device that can complete effortlessly in the mid-range market. Below are the iTel S17 full review, battery capacity, camera performance, and current price in Nigeria.

Design and Display

However, there are not many changes to the iTel S17 design as it still has some of the design aspects of its predecessor. However, this iTel device still has a fantastic design with a plastic body and glass upfront. It’s undoubtedly one of the best designs we’ve ever seen on an iTel smartphone. Just like the S16 and other iTel smartphones, it features a teardrop notch upfront which is somehow outdated compared to the dot-hole notch on its competitors.

Flipping through the back you’ll notice a unique aesthetics with a triple camera bump with the fingerprint sensor slightly beside it in the middle. The “iTel” brand logo is boldly scripted on the left edge of the phone below the camera. Meanwhile, you can choose to use the Face ID authentication method as a security alternative or backup.

The iTel S17 is richly blessed when it comes to ports connection. The phone comes with a USB-2.0 port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and speaker grills all perfectly positioned on the lower edge of the phone. Meanwhile, on the right side are the power button and volume rockers while the opposite is occupied by the SIM tray which uses a shared slot with the SDcard.

When it comes to display, there are not many changes as we earlier anticipated. The 6.6-inch teardrop display on the iTel S17 is showing at an HD+ resolution (720 × 1612 pixels). With an 90% Screen-to-body ratio, 19.5:9 ratio, and 407 PPI density, you’re ready to enjoy the highest virtual experience on the S17. Also, the phone’s 1B colours make content on the screen appear more vivid and enticing.

Cameras

One of the key selling points of the iTel S17 is its camera. The smile selfie camera (5-MP) automatically captures a photo once you smile without you pressing the shutter button. This is an amazing upgrade from iTel and delivers an unrivalled set pace in mid-range smartphones.

The 8MP triple rear camera works alongside a 5MP camera to deliver amazing smartphone photography. iTel reveals the S17 rear camera presents more accurate shots with greater virtual experience to record the unfolding photography story. Some of the features of the iTel S17 camera includes Bokeh effect, AI Face Beauty, Fast Short Video Shooting, One-Click Share, and many others.

Processor, Performance, and Software

When it comes to performance, it’s quite unfortunate that you won’t get the best of smartphone performance on the iTel S17. iTel once again fails to improve the performance of its S-series device. The Mediatek MT6580A chipset on the S17 is quite below expectations but won’t be a problem if you’re not after a phone’s performance.

Also, the 1GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage won’t be enough for all your files and apps. Fortunately, there might be a 2GB of RAM and 32GB version and you can decide to upgrade the phone’s memory up to 128GB via SDcard support.

However, if you’re a normal user, there’s nothing to worry about as the S17 performs the basic task without any slowdown. Meanwhile, high-end games like PUGB, Call of Duty, and Asphalt 9 won’t play at a smooth refresh rate on this smartphone.

Amazingly, iTel users can now enjoy the best smartphone customisation, thanks to the latest Android 11 OS. Although this is a Go Edition, it still introduces a lot of customisation options that come with the latest Google software.

iTel S17: Battery Capacity

The 5000mAh battery capacity on the iTel S17 allows you to enjoy your phone all day without connecting it to the charger. iTel claims you’re getting 7 hours filming time, 30 hours uninterrupted call, and 27 days standby time on the S17. There’s no doubt you’re getting the best battery life and durability on this smartphone.

  1. The phone was super until I had to update it,most of the features just vanished like bike mode, battery saver, screen recorder, most camera features and many more. Those features enticed me to get the phone, now it’s just useless.
