Just in, iTel Mobile has officially launched its new entry-level iTel P40 in the Nigerian market just a few months after the release of the ITel A58 series.
The ITel P40 is indeed a superb smartphone, having a 6.6-inch IPS LCD screen with a refresh rate of up to 120 frames per second, 5MP selfie shooter, and a new design overhaul. Undoubtedly, the P40 device flaunts one of the biggest Android phone battery that lasts more than your average flagship handset.
The ITel P40 6000mAh battery cell is one of the phone’s biggest selling points, with the Transsion brand revealing it can last up to 3 days on a single charge. Furthermore, there’s a 4GB RAM with 3GB extension, 64GB built-in storage, an 18W fast charger, and many other untapped specs.
Undoubtedly, the iTel P40 is a mid-range device that you won’t regret going for especially with its cheap price. Now let’s take a look at the smartphone’s full review to know whether it’s worth buying.

Design and Build-up
Fortunately, the iTel P40 has a new design overhaul that gave it some kind of flagship look and feeling if not for its plastic body. Notwithstanding, it has a killer design with the fingerprint scanner mounted at the back. Meanwhile, the phone looks amazing, with beautiful color options of Yellow, Blue, and Black to choose from.
Similar to most iTel phones, the P40 device features a waterdrop notch that’s somehow outdated as most recent smartphones come with a dot-hole display. More on its downsides, a glass back should have been preferable to a plastic back, but we understand it must have been done to help keep the price low.
Flipping through the back you’ll be welcomed by iTel’s design prowess. To add icing to the cake, iTel debuted a glass rectangular camera bump that’s similar to that of the Poco M5. The rear camera bump is a unique feature and somehow gave the phone a flagship look. The ‘iTel’ brand logo is boldly scripted on the left side of the phone just below the camera.
Meanwhile, the iTel P40 is enriched with the necessary phone ports connection. There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired earphone fans and a USB port for charging the device. On the right side of the phone are the perfectly positioned power button and volume rockers, while on the left is the dual SIM card and SD card slots.

Display
When it comes to display, the iTel P40 is a fairly large smartphone with a 6.6.6-inch IPS LCD screen that’s showing at 720 × 1612 pixels resolution. It packs some amazing display qualities that are vivid and colourful enough to keep you going. With up to a 1B colour gamut, you’re ready to enjoy the highest viewing experience on the P40 display.

Camera
iTel phones are generally not known to be cameras excellent, but the P40 seems to be an exception, at least to some extent. The phone comes with two cameras on the back – 13MP primary shooter and a VGA depth sensor. Upfront is a 5MP lens that takes great selfies but is not the best in this price segment.
With the help of some of the camera app’s software like AI Face Beauty and Bokeh effect, the iTel P40 takes some good photos that you can flaunt on social media especially when taken in well-lighted conditions.

Processor, Performance, and Software
The iTel P40 is powered by Unisoc SC9863A chipset with eight Cortex-A55 CPU cores running at 1.6GHz, while the GPU is PowerVR GE8322, clocked at 550MHz This processor is quite below average, but remember it’s not a flagship phone, so don’t expect much from it.
Meanwhile, the P40 flaunts a big storage variant of 4GB/64GB and 2GB/32GB. According to iTel, you can increase the RAM memory through RAM extension up to 7GB, otherwise known as memory fusion. This allows you to map out some of the phone’s inbuilt storage and use it to increase your RAM, giving you more power to perform your daily tasks.
The iTel P40 is equipped with the latest Android 12 (Go Edition) OS, only second to Android 13. Fortunately, it’s the first iTel phone to flaunt this latest Google software, so you’re guaranteed to enjoy unlimited customization options and tweaks more than before.

Battery Capacity and Fast Charge
The iTel P series just as its name stands for Power is known for its strong battery life and the P40 is not ak exception. The iTel P40 comes with a massive 6000mAh battery capacity that gives you up to 3 days of activeness on a single charge. Meanwhile, there’s an 18W fast charger that powers the phone within 2 hours.
