The Oppo Reno line of products has always been known for its modern aesthetic designs and cameras. The latest Oppo Reno 3 Pro doubles up as a flagship device with an excellent camera features that’s fitted into a high-quality svelte body.
Similar to other Oppo Reno families, it shares a lot of specifications with other flagship devices such as a punch-hole display, multiple high-megapixel cameras, great working speed, fast charging, and more. Oppo has done absolutely great with this device’s factor much to our surprise. The handset features curved edges to give it perfect comfortability despite having a tall 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display. This gives the phone a great hand-in-hand feel especially while using the phone with one hand.
Oppo’s camera tech on the Reno 3 Pro is doing wonders and can be considered the best feature of this smartphone. The 64MP quad-camera setup on the rear can produce varieties of great looking photos. Also, the dual selfie camera is decent too with one of the best video recordings you’ll find on a phone of this segment.
Beyond the camera is the inclusion of MediaTek Helio P95 chipset which performs decently but is not the best performer in the competition. Meanwhile, the upgraded ColourOS 7 skin addresses the shortcomings of the previous versions. Unfortunately, battery life isn’t outstanding to our expectations especially when phones that sell at a lower price tag have better battery performance.
However, with stiff competition in the market, some of the Reno 3 Pro features are even found in the budget segment. Undoubtedly, the Oppo Reno 3 Pro faces competition from both high-end and budget smartphones. Here’s our honest review and final verdict about the Oppo Reno 3 Pro and its current price in Nigeria.

Design and Display
Straight from the box, the Oppo Reno 3 Pro has the same design as most recent flagship phones, especially Huawei’s P30 range. It has a glossy and attractive design with a quad-camera arrangement on the rear and dual punch-hole upfront which is similar to Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus.
Flipping over to the back cover is a plastic finish that could be mistaken for glass because of the deep glossy gradient accentuating the entire look. One feature we love about the Reno 3 Pro is how light the build-up is. The plastic back allows the phone to shave off some weight which keeps it at 175g range. This is more preferable in case you’re planning to use the phone without a case.
Also, the buttons are perfectly positioned with the volume rockers on the left while the power button is placed on the right edge of the phone for easier accessibility. Fortunately, Oppo didn’t omit the 3.5mm headphone jack like most flagship companies do which is great for wired headphone fans.
Meanwhile, the built-in speakers aren’t that loud as expected but can emit good satisfactory sounds. Unfortunately, the speakers can get covered while holding the phone horizontally coupled with the medium output which worsens the situation.
Upfront is a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED panel with a wide FHD+ (1080 × 2400) resolution. Fortunately, the bezels have been reduced to the lowest minimum and the sides were curved to offer a comfortable handgrip.
AMOLED displays are known to offer great colour reproduction at all brightness levels and the Reno 3 Pro doesn’t lack that. Also, the smartphone has a very high peak of brightness that you can comfortably operate the phone while under sunlight. Meanwhile, the lowest brightness level is very adequate too that you don’t need to tune it up to the highest.
Fortunately, the Oppo Reno 3 Pro features an in-display fingerprint scanner that works perfectly when it comes to speed, security, and accuracy. Also, the device has Face Unlock ID as alternative security.
Camera
Undoubtedly, Oppo is fastly becoming a home for amazing camera smartphones, thanks to the Reno 3 Pro quad rear camera. There’s a total of six camera arrangements with 2 upfront and 4 in the rear. Flipping over to the rear is a 64-MP primary shooter which is accompanied by an 8-MP ultra-wide lens, 13-MP telephoto, and 2-MP mono lens.
The mono camera allows you to take black and white pictures alongside the ability to pull in more light for arty shots and higher contrast. However, there’s not much different between black and white pictures taken with the Oppo Reno 3 Pro and other smartphones that don’t have a monochrome lens.
Meanwhile, the primary camera takes well-detailed shots with great dynamic range. It does an excellent job in retaining details and sharpness of the photo while lacking a little contrast. Fortunately, you can shoot at 108-MP under the Expert mode. This is because the primary camera takes multiple frames of a scene then adds more scenes which combines to bring out a 108-MP photo.
Also, the ultra-wide lens takes great dynamic range shots with enough details while outdoor, especially in natural conditions. At the other length is a 2x telephoto lens which performs below our expectations. However, it’s preferable when compared to other phone cameras at this price range.
Upfront is a dual selfie camera that consists of a 44-MP primary shooter alongside a 2-MP depth sensor. While this feature might sound a bit exceptional, there’s nothing special when it comes to performance.
Performance and Software
The Oppo Reno 3 Pro doesn’t have the best powerhouse in its category. While it has AI and camera capabilities in its DNA, the MediaTek Helio P95 isn’t fast enough to our expectations. However, while on light usage, you wouldn’t notice any shortcomings while browsing and the responsiveness is great if you didn’t push the phone beyond its limit.
Gaming is quite okay, but the phone will take a longer time to load when you throw in high graphic games like PES 2021, Asphalt 9, GTA, and others. While HyperEngine is said to optimise the gaming performance, we still struggle to get the best out of these games.
Like most 2020 phones, the Reno 3 Pro runs on Android 10 with ColourOS 7 interface.
Oppo’s software has been outstanding over the years and the ColourOS 7 brings a lot of upgrades and improvements although it’s still nowhere close to stock Android.
Meanwhile, there’s no noticeable lag with the Oppo software and we get cleaner icons, a beautiful interface, and a revamped quick toggles menu.
Battery Capacity
The 4,025mAh battery on the Reno 3 Pro is decent enough for 48 hours provided you didn’t stress the phone much. However, adding gaming, browsing, and social media to the mix, the device will struggle to last up to a day.
The Oppo Reno 3 Pro comes with the new 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 which powers the phone from empty to full battery within an hour. Although it’s nothing compared to the Super VOOC found on most Oppo flagship smartphones, it’s still the best we’ve found in this price range.

The Oppo Reno 3 Pro is currently priced at ₦215,000 (roughly $520) and it’s available in just triple colour options of Auroral Blue, Midnight Black, and Sky White. Fortunately, it comes in spacious dual storage options of 128GB and 256GB.
Apart from the UK, Australia, and some parts of the US where Oppo doesn’t have plans of selling their products, the Reno 3 Pro is available for purchase in every other country of the world. The phone is available to purchase via Oppo official retailer stores or other third party stores across Nigeria.
