The budget-centric smartphone brand named Tecno has been delivering a lot of devices in the budget segment. The Tecno Spark 8 Pro is another entry to the lineup, and we’re here to tell you everything you need to know about the smartphone. Firstly, it’s the Pro version of the basic Tecno Spark 8 smartphone with some cool specs and prices to match.
The recent years have been an exciting period for budget buyers, having different tastes in budget-friendly smartphones released by a whole lot of manufacturers. The competition amongst popular mobile phone brands is becoming more fierce year after year and releasing affordable devices while bringing in new features has been the best way to top the chart.
The Tecno Spark 8 Pro is released as the hero model of the Spark 8 series which comes alongside the Spark 8C. The company has improved the series with this smartphone, but the design seems untouched because that’s almost what we had with the previous Spark 8 series smartphones. This includes the large and glossy camera module that houses the phone’s camera setup.
Nevertheless, we appreciate the improvements we saw inside the Tecno Spark 8 Pro. Tecno has always been delivering budget smartphones non-stop, so the new Spark 8 Pro is another one to talk about. If you love buying your phones from the category, then this impressive device will make a lot of sense to you.

One of the noticeable changes in the design of the Spark 8 Pro is the punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. Asides from that, it’s almost like every other smartphone of the Spark 8 series, especially the Spark 8P. This phone doesn’t feel all that premium, though Tecno claimed it does so in their official advert. But we still love the rectangular camera bump on the rear with the innovative triple camera setup.
Another cool change in the design of the Tecno Spark 8 is the placement of the fingerprint scanner. This time, the company has integrated it on the power button, unlike the rest of the models in the Spark 8 series. Apart from the glossy camera module, the rear has some strip lines including some bold trademark text that looks a bit boring to see.
The power button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner is situated at the right edge, alongside the volume rocker above it. The SIM tray is located on the left edge, while the bottom contains the speaker grille, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and microphone.
The Tecno Spark 8 Pro is built to serve the users as per the price they paid for. Its back panel built with plastic, and the glossy part of the rear panel is prone to fingerprints and smudges, but it’s well designed anyway.

The Tecno Spark 8 features the typical display of every budget smartphone, especially its siblings. Tecno phones are known for offering large real estate, so it won’t be any different on the Spark 8 Pro. The device is equipped with a large 6.8-inch screen that has a screen-to-body ratio of 84.5%. There’s a small 60Hz of refresh which might not be enough, but almost the same as every other smartphone in the category.
The display features a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels, a pixel density of 395 PPI, and a peak brightness of 400nits. You’ll have a clearer view of the screen whether you’re inside or outside of your home. In addition, watching and streaming videos will be a blissful experience, thanks to the HD+ resolution.
The only issue we have with the display is the lack of a higher refresh rate. You can possibly get other smartphones with 90Hz and 120Hz of refresh rates around the same price range. Also, an AMOLED panel could have been the best match for a phone with a small refresh rate, but Tecno has gone for an IPS LCD panel instead.

Out of the three cameras on the Tecno Spark 8 Pro, there’s a 48MP main camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and an Al lens. We’ve always expected an Al lens to complete the camera setup instead of an ultra-wide or telephoto lens. Though some budget-friendly smartphones include an ultra-wide lens, it’s still considerable given the configuration.
The main camera is in charge of all the photos that are taken with Tecno Spark 8 Pro. You’ll capture a lot of quality images with crisp details and vibrant colors in lighting conditions. However, that’s not the case with capturing where there’s little or less light. Though the HDR support helps to brighten up the scene, it still doesn’t match the quality of photos in good light conditions.
The secondary camera doesn’t have much impact on images that are captured on this phone’s camera. Though it helps for portrait photography, the photos are often blurry due to the lack of enhanced photo processing software. The color production on images is okay, though it needs a lot more dynamic range and details.
The Spark 8 Pro camera also has other features like filters and bokeh which could help to boost the quality of photos. An 8MP selfie shooter is on the front for capturing decent front-facing photos and videos. Though the Tecno Spark 8 Pro needs more improvements on the camera section, we’re still impressed with what it delivers.

Performance, Storage, and Software
Under the hood, the Tecno Spark 8 Pro packs the same processor that is often seen on other Tecno smartphones, speaking of the Mediatek Soc. The chipset is the Mediatek Helio G85 which is an octa-core processor that is based on 12nm process technology. In addition to the chipset, the Tecno Spark 8 Pro has a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU.
For performance, everything will work perfectly for your daily usage with the Tecno Spark 8 Pro. Whether you’re scrolling through your media feeds, browsing the internet, or multitasking, everything will definitely work out for you. The same thing is applicable to your gaming experience, though you won’t be able to play games that default to high frame rates without reducing it to the lowest level.

In terms of memory, the Tecno Spark 8 Pro comes with 4GB and 6GB of RAM, with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage. With this setup, you’ll get the phone in different storage configurations like 64GB /4GB RAM, 64GB /6GB RAM, and 128GB /4GB RAM. A micro SD card slot is also included in the SIM tray for the expansion of memory.
The HiOS interface is capable of delivering a smooth experience, and the Tecno Spark 8 Pro ships the 7.6 version with the Android 11 OS on top. Multitasking is the best part of this interface, as it allows you to switch between running programs without slowing down the phone’s performance. In addition to that, it brings a lot of customization options and the ability to get rid of bloatware apps.
Fortunately, the Spark 8 Pro will receive Tecno’s latest HiOS 8.6 interface which is based on Android 12. You can click the link below to know which other phones that’ll be eligible.
The Tecno Spark 8 Pro features a battery capacity of 5,000mAh. There are many budget smartphones with bigger battery capacity, but that doesn’t mean that this phone lacks extended battery life.
Fortunately, the Tecno Spark 8 Pro delivers up to 8hrs of screen-on-time usage while taking only an hour to charge with the 33W fast charger.
