Oppo A57 5G Review: Features, Specs, and Price in Nigeria

The Oppo A57 5G brings the company’s classic design into the middle-range category with its impressive design and features. The smartphone is built with an impressive design as well as specs that can go toe-to-toe with some other middle-range phones. Though Oppo had to cut corners to give the very best device for the price which is very affordable, you’ll hardly find another viable alternative to the A57 5G.

Oppo has taken the A-series to release most of its affordable phones like the Oppo A77 5G, Oppo A96, and the Oppo A57 5G which fit perfectly into the category. This smartphone is powered by one of the latest 5G capable chipsets from MediaTek. Unfortunately, only a few can live with the 13MP camera sensor on the rear which is a downside.

There’s also an 8MP selfie camera that sits on the top centre of the 6.56-inch display. This is absolutely not the best phone for taking photos, but you can get it if you want to effortlessly achieve a smooth gaming experience as well as the system-wide performance at large.

Rounding up the specs sheet is a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. Looking at the specs, the Oppo A57 5G has impressed us on where we take to be the most of every smartphone. But if you think that’s still not enough, the Oppo A77 5G could satisfy your needs.

You’ll find everything you need to know about the Oppo A57 5G through this review. The company released it to take over from where the old Oppo A56 left, and the Oppo A57 5G seems to be doing a nice job with the new 5G chipset, extended memory, and a very attractive design.

Design

The Oppo A57 5G could actually be a mid-range device, but it doesn’t look like such. Almost like Xiaomi’s flagships, the phone has a relatively big rectangular camera array that hosts two sensors and a LED flash. We can’t forget the Oppo’s “Glow” design which gives the Oppo A57 5G a refreshed new look that will make you doubt if that’s really a mid-range phone at first sight.

The A57 5G also has flat edges and rounded corners that help for a firm grip while holding the phone. The power button which doubles as a fingerprint scanner is on the right corner, while the volume rocker alongside a triple-cut SIM tray is placed in the left corner. Inside the SIM tray, you can insert two SIM cards and a micro SD card.

On the bottom corner, you’ll find a firing speaker, a microphone, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. This 6.56-inch smartphone has a thickness of 7.99 mm which feels sizable for the palm, while the weight is just 187g meaning that you can comfortably carry it along.

Impressively, Oppo has designed the Oppo A57 5G to resist drops and harsh weather. So while you’re caught up in the rain or exposed to a dusty environment, you’ll have a bit of reassurance with the help of IPX4 water resistance and IPX5 dust resistance. Lastly, the Oppo A57 5G is available in three Glowing colourways of Black, Blue, and Lilac.

Display

Display

The 6.56-inch screen on the Oppo A57 5G is colour-rich and able to deliver a very entertaining visual graphic experience while watching content. Also, the screen is very large, so even though the bezels are slightly thick, you’ll still have enough real estate to operate on. The display features a waterdrop style on the top that houses the selfie camera.

Also, an Al Eye Comfort Technology is present on the display to reduce the blue light emitting while you operate on your screen if you’re the type that stays on the phone often. The display also features a resolution of 1612 × 720 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate which ensures a quality HD experience and a smooth scrolling experience.

Camera

Camera

The camera performance of the Oppo A57 5G is quite impressive. Though you’ll hardly capture enough quality shots with the 13MP primary sensor, Oppo has designed the app nicely, in such a way that it uses a proper amount of colours, contrast, and saturation in the production of images and videos. However, you can capture decent shots with the A57, especially in daylight.

On the other hand, night photography doesn’t impress much. Though Oppo has made some upgrades in that area which makes it slightly better than its predecessor, yet it still struggles to deliver decent results. The secondary camera on the Oppo A57 5G is a 2MP depth sensor that produces beautiful blurs while capturing portrait photos.

That’s it for the camera sensors on the rear of the Oppo A57 5G. This means there’s no ultra-wide or telephoto lens, but that’s not too bad for a smartphone of this entry-level. On the front, there’s an 8MP sensor that can be used to capture HD selfies and videos.

Performance, Storage, and Software

Performance, Storage, and Software

We’re impressed with the performance of the Oppo A57 5G. You’ll hardly find another middle-range smartphone with a faster processor than the MediaTek Dimensity 810 in this phone. The chipset is built under 6nm process technology, and its octa-core speed clocks 2.4GHz which is great to see in a mid-range phone.

The Oppo A57 5G is a nice smartphone to use if you play games and multitask a lot. And while you’re performing all these things, the phone doesn’t show any sign of lag in performance nor heating up in the system. If you love browsing websites or scrolling through social media, the super-fast 5G network connectivity plus the 90Hz of refresh rate will ensure a smooth and lag-free experience.

You can also open large apps and windows within seconds, as the UFS 2.2 storage helps to enhance the phone’s performance. The 128GB of in-built storage has enough space to store your documents, files, and data. This storage is paired with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM depending on the storage variant you choose.

Oppo A57 5G
Software

This smartphone ships Android 12 OS with ColorOS 12.1 interface out of the box. The interface is well streamlined and intuitive, offering different customization options to tweak the ColorOS 12.1 in a way that suits you. The Android operating system brings a lot of privacy options in the privacy dashboard through the phone’s settings.

Battery Capacity and Charging

Battery

The Oppo A57 5G is powered by a 5000mAh battery which can stay up to two days on a single charge. The 33W fast charging support is a nice upgrade on the Oppo A57 5G. As a result, the phone only takes an hour and a few minutes to charge which is quite impressive.
