Tecno Pop 6 Pro was unveiled as the first Pop device to debut with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner along with a 5000mAh battery life. The 6.6-inch smartphone comes after the Pop 6 Go 4G which was released in May 2022 but with more upgraded specs.

The Tecno Pop 6 Pro is the successor of the Pop 5 Pro launched in January, but with a 1000mAh higher battery cell. The 4G LTE device boots HiOS 8.6 based on Android 12 (Go Edition) software and comes with 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage onboard.
Tecno’s new Pop 6 Pro device is indeed a great budget option for every Tecno fan, but let’s dive deeper into the phone’s specs to know whether it’s really worth the price.

Design and Display
The Tecno Pop 6 Pro is an amazing device with an attractive design which will be available in dual colour options of Peaceful Blue and Polar Black. It has two giant camera modules at the back panel which houses the two rear lenses. It has a design replica of that of the Camon 19 Neo. Turning over to the front is a teardrop notch for the selfie camera.
The Tecno Pop 6 Pro power and volume buttons were integrated into the right corner. The power button doubles up as a fingerprint reader which makes it the first Tecno Pop series smartphone to have the new security trend. Meanwhile, on the left corner is a SIM /microSD card slot. Moving down to the bottom edge, there’s a micro-USB port and microphone while the 3.5mm headphone jack is located on top.
For viewing content with this device, there’s a big 6.6-inch HD+ display with an IPS LCD panel. Meanwhile, the Indian region is set to get the Pop 6 Pro with a 6.56-inch screen and a designer back panel.
Nevertheless, the display is very colourful with sharp contrast which makes for a wonderful viewing angle for your watching videos or photos, playing games and doing other stuff. However, we won’t recommend this phone if a quality display is a priority for your smartphone.

Camera
While Tecno has improved the camera performance of the Pop 6 Pro, it’s still not worth it if camera quality is your priority on a smartphone. However, it has a superior quality performance compared to the Pop 6 Go 4G.
The Tecno Pop 6 Pro has an improved 8MP rear camera which is assisted by an AI lens. Upfront is the same 5MP selfie camera that was found on the Pop 6 Go 4G. Fortunately, there’s a flashlight on its left that helps you take brighter photos or enjoy video calls in dim lighting conditions. This is a feature that’s lacking in most flagship phones and we’re happy to have it on the Pop 6 Pro.
When it comes to camera performance, the photos taken with the phone aren’t as sharp as those produced with Infinix Hot 12 or Poco C40 but are comparable to that of the new Xiaomi Redmi A1 Plus.
Performance, Storage, and Software
The Tecno Pop 6 Pro will come with an undisclosed quad-core processor and a UniSoc chipset just like the Pop 6 Go 4G. This is not the best budget chipset as it will limit the smooth running of the device when you play high-end games or open multiple apps at the same time.
As for storage, the phone should feature a single storage variant of 2GB RAM and 32GB built-in storage. There’s also an option for the expansion of memory via an SD card slot up to 128GB.
The Tecno Pop 6 Pro operating system is based on the latest Android 12 Go Edition version alongside the HiOS version 8.6 interface overlay. This will introduce a lot of customisable options and tweaks to the phone which we love to have on a mid-range phone.
Battery Capacity
The Tecno Pop 6 Pro will go official with a 5000mAh battery life that guarantees at least 24 hours of active status on medium use. However, with steady usage that involves connecting to WiFi, gaming, or browsing, the phone will manage to last up to 16 hours. Unfortunately, there’s no quick charging option but we expect to see it on next year’s model.

Tecno Pop 6 Pro: Price in Nigeria and Release Date
When will the Tecno Pop 6 Pro be released? Fortunately, the Pop 6 Pro is scheduled to be released in India this month, with Nigeria and other African countries following suit. After release, the Pop 6 Pro will be available for purchase in both online and offline stores across Nigeria and beyond.
The Tecno Pop 6 Pro will be priced at ₦50,000 (roughly $75) for the 2GB /32GB variant. This will put it on par with the iTel P38 which has similar specs.
