Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T 5G Review: Features, Specs, and Price in Nigeria

Redmi Note 11T 5G camera performance and price

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T 5G is another mid-range phone released by Xiaomi in 2021. It’s undeniably an excellent device which offers a unique display, great cameras, decent battery capacity, and a powerful chipset which supports 5G network connectivity. This phone has a 6.6-inch screen with standard resolutions, a 5,000mAh battery, a 50MP dual-camera, and a 16MP selfie shooter.

The Redmi Note 11T 5G isn’t much of a deal-breaker in specs as there are some mid-range phones in the market with more improved specs than these. However, the 5G network connectivity still stands out for this phone and that’s what most of these phones have failed to offer. And still the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T 5G offers all these qualities without increasing the price that much. Probably not the best mid-range phone, but the best affordable 5G mobile phone you can buy this year.

Xiaomi really deserved applause not just for making this phone, but for every single phone they’ve released this year. They launched the Redmi Note 10, Note 10 Pro, and Note 10 Pro Max in March. Also, we’ve the Redmi Note 10T 5G which is said to be the predecessor to this Redmi Note 11T 5G with few upgrades.

Design

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T 5G looks just like other Redmi phones. We can easily list up to five Xiaomi phones with the same polycarbonate frame and back with a matte texture just like this phone. However, that doesn’t make the design less attractive. Probably that’s to remind us how good Xiaomi can be especially when it comes to quality design, and this phone coming with an IP53 rating shows they’re the best at it.

The rear camera setup is also the same as other Xiaomi phones especially the previous ones from the Note series. The camera module houses four lenses but actually, this phone has only two cameras and a LED flash which means the other two were just for looks. The phone is easy to handle as it weighs just 195g. Furthermore, the textured back panel helps for a premium feel while holding the phone.

Just as expected, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T 5G features a side-mounted fingerprint reader which is very responsive, so you can easily unlock your phone while taking it out of your pocket. The volume buttons were also placed at the top right corner alongside the power button which doubles as the fingerprint scanner. This phone also comes in four distinct colour options namely Aquamarine Blue, Stardust White, and Matte Black.

Display

Display

Similar to other Xiaomi phones, the Redmi Note 11T 5G has an impressive display that’s hard to resist. Apart from its huge screen which measures 6.6-inches, it also supports Full HD+ with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution. The refresh rate is also impressive at 90Hz which is normal for a mid-range phone, while the touch sampling rate is 240Hz. Fortunately, there’s a DCI-P3 wide colour gamut and a corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. The display is also bright enough for both indoor and outdoor usage.

And whilst you can manually switch between 60Hz to 90Hz refresh, this phone automatically switches between different refresh rates for a better experience. It has a minimal screen bezels, especially around the chin, which provides enough screen for viewing content. There’s also a punch-hole cutout at the centre of the screen for the selfie camera.

Unfortunately, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T 5G missed out on the AMOLED technology, but the reason is very simple. Considering the cheaper price which comes with a 5G support, Xiaomi had to cut corners elsewhere and that leads to the IPS LCD panel you’re seeing in this phone, but we’re sure Xiaomi did bring the very possible best out of this panel.

Camera

Camera

Surprisingly, Xiaomi introduced a dual-camera setup for the Redmi Note 11T 5G which is unusual. Unlike many phones with triple or quad cameras, Xiaomi opts for just two cameras while ignoring the telephoto, macro, or even a depth sensor. This if added to these two empty lenses even if just the normal 2 megapixels, will make a very great camera for this phone.

Instead, they chose only a 50MP main shooter and 8MP ultra-wide which supports 109 degrees field of view. The previous Redmi Note 10 and Note 10T 5G have a 48MP main camera, so the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T 5G is still on track with its upgrade. Meanwhile, the 50MP main camera alone cam is good at capturing nice photos with enough details most especially in good light conditions.

Portrait photography is also enabled using the main camera despite the absence of a depth sensor, and also produces beautiful background blurs. Meanwhile, the ultra-wide sensor also does a great job of capturing nice photos in certain light conditions. The selfie camera has a 16MP sensor which allows you to take portrait photography.

Performance, Storage, and Software

In performance, you get the most noticeable upgrade in this phone. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T 5G is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 810 chipset which is an upgrade to the Mediatek Dimensity 700 chipset in the Redmi Note 10T 5G. This chipset is manufactured using a 6nm processor technology and is 5G enabled which paves way for a solid performance.

Scrolling through different apps on your phone, watching videos, browsing, and multitasking is handled easily by this phone. Your multimedia experience including gaming is enhanced by the phone’s dual stereo speaker while the Mali G57 MC2 is in for quality graphics.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T 5G comes with different memory options. There are 4GB /6GB /8GB of RAM and 64GB /128GB of internal storage. Different memory variants are available in 4GB /64GB, 6GB /64GB, 6GB /128GB, and 8GB /128GB. The internal storage is expandable up to 1TB via an SD card slot.

Furthermore, the Redmi 11T 5G runs on the Android 11 version with Xiaomi’s MIUI 12.5 overlay. Xiaomi has done well with the exclusion of ads in the system while including some customizable features to enhance your experience with this smartphone.

Battery

The Redmi Note 11T 5G also packs a standard battery capacity of 5000mAh. The battery will last longer for your day-to-day activities with social media, playing games, streaming videos, and browsing.

You should expect up to 8hrs of screen-on-time with this phone, and still gets a 33W fast charging support. This will power the phone from empty to full battery within one hour.

  1. Is it just me or there’s a problem with this phone connectivity especially with MTN. In Lagos, there’s only H+, in the East, you can get 4G but not so strong
