Infinix Note 12 Review: Full Specs, Features, and Price in Nigeria

Infinix Note 12 camera performance and battery

Infinix is a well-known smartphone brand in Nigeria and some other African countries. The reason is simply because their phones are very affordable, and no matter the quality, the prices are cheaper when compared to other smartphones. Fortunately, the Transsion brand has released their latest mid-range smartphone called the Infinix Note 12 in April 2022. There’s no doubt this handset comes with lots of improved specs and features.

The Infinix Note 12 is a 6.7-inch screen smartphone with a quality display tech that can offer up to 1000nits of peak brightness. The design is well furnished with durable chassis even though they’re made of plastic. Its rear camera has 50MP triple sensors while the front camera comes with a 16MP sensor. The phone is powered by a Mediatek Helio G88 chipset which is paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

The above-mentioned specs were just the same as what we saw on the Infinix Note 11 Pro of last year apart from little upgrades. The only noticeable improvement here is the 1000nits of max brightness in the Infinix Note 12 while Note 11 has 650nits. They both are very great quality smartphones with massive 5000mAh batteries despite their cheaper prices. Though it’s not the best in high-end terms, but can still save you some cash if you’re not satisfied with what the Note 12 has to offer.

Design

Infinix is known for giving their phones the best possible look, especially the mid-range ones. So the latest mid-range phone from the company shouldn’t be an exception. In fact, the Note 12’s design is regarded the most interesting part of the phone. The Infinix Note 12 comes with a flat-edged design which helps for a firm grip and prevents accidental touches while handling this phone. The back panel has a matte textured finish that tends to prevent smudges or fingerprints.

On the rear of the back panel is a rectangular camera bump which houses the three cameras and a Quad-LED flash. While on the front panel is a dewdrop notch screen with tiny bezels which paves way for the phone’s huge screen. The Infinix Note 12 has a length of 164.4mm and a width of 76.7mm which means it’s a medium sized device that can easily fit into your pocket.

The Infinix Note 12 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that also doubles as a power button when the fingerprint unlock isn’t activated. The volume buttons were placed alongside the fingerprint scanner on the right corner of the phone. There are three colour versions of this phone namely Jewel Blue, Force Black, and Sunset Golden.

Display

Display

The Infinix Note 12 comes with a 6.7-inch waterdrop notch screen. Fortunately, Infinix has improved the AMOLED panel of this phone by upgrading it to 1000nits of max brightness, thereby making it usable even in a sunny environment. The display colours are sharp and vibrant with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution and 393 ppi density. The screen is big enough for your multimedia experience like watching movies or photos, streaming videos or viewing any other content on the screen.

Also, the display has a 90Hz of refresh rate which makes for a smooth experience while scrolling through your screen and provides a faster response while playing games. Generally, this phone’s display is a good one.

Camera

Camera

In optics, the Infinix Note 12 didn’t disappoint us as everything was just as we expected from it. You shouldn’t have asked for a better camera from a mid-range phone other than the 50MP main camera you’re seeing in this phone. The Note 12 does better with outdoor shooting especially under sunlight while producing nice images with enough details. However, this phone might struggle with taking great photos under low-light conditions, but the provided Quad-LED flash makes it better.

Other cameras include a 2MP depth sensor and a QVGA lens. The depth sensor does a great job with taking portrait photography, by singling out the subject while producing a Bokeh effect that blurs the background.

The front camera has a 16MP sensor which you can also take portrait selfies with. Also, it’s good enough for recording videos and making video calls.

Performance, Storage, and Software

In terms of performance, the Infinix Note 12 is equipped with a powerful chipset which handles your task easily. An octa-core Mediatek Helio G88 chipset that’s manufactured using a 12nm processor technology powers this phone. For your daily activities and gaming, this phone does not show any signs of delay unless you use it for some demanding tasks that slow down the phone’s performance.

In memory, the Infinix Note 12 comes with 4GB and 6GB of RAM alongside 64GB and 128GB of internal memory. There’s a dedicated slot for a microSD card in case you want to expand the phone’s storage.

The Infinix Note 12 runs on the Android 11 operating system along with XOS 10.6. However, a lot of people weren’t satisfied with the phone’s software performance, especially on the notifications and quick settings menu which they struggle with.

The Infinix Note 12 also comes with some useful features that might help. There’s an X Hide that helps you hide your banking and financial apps and a lot more.

Battery

The Infinix Note 12 comes with a 5000mAh battery. Depending on how you use the phone, it can last up to 8hrs of screen-on-time with a steady recording of videos, gaming, and steady activity on social media platforms. While on moderate usage like making calls, and sending text messages, this phone can last up to two days. The 33W fast charging support can charge the phone from zero to full battery in an hour.
