Oppo Reno 7 Review: Full Specs, Features, and Price in Nigeria

Oppo has updated its Reno series lineup with a smartphone called the Oppo Reno 7. This smartphone was launched alongside its 5G model in March 2022 with few noticeable changes. The Oppo Reno 7 5G is a quality smartphone with insane specs and features accompanied by a hefty price tag. However, Oppo released its cheaper model for those who still want to get a taste of this incredible phone at a lower price.

The Oppo Reno 7 or Oppo Reno 7 4G is a 6.4-inch phone with capable hardware despite selling at an affordable price. Though this phone comes with a few pros and cons as you shouldn’t expect all the best from a smartphone under $400, but as long as camera, performance, and the battery is concerned which is the most important thing, the Reno 7 is a smartphone that is worth buying.

This phone has a huge screen with an impressive display. A 64MP triple rear camera and a 32MP selfie shooter. A very decent performance from a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset which is paired with an 8GB of RAM, and a 4500mAh battery. If the lack of 5G network connectivity is a problem for you, you can now consider the Oppo Reno 7 5G. Both phones are top quality in high-end terms. Meanwhile, there’s Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G with similar specs and sells at almost the same price as the Reno 7. This is a perfect alternative for those who wants the latest 5G connectivity but won’t like to spend much.

Design

Oppo didn’t hesitate to make this phone’s design a very unique one despite the price. Don’t forget the Oppo Reno 7 is a mid-range phone but doesn’t seem like such when it comes to design. Known as an Ultra-Slim Retro design, the Oppo Reno 7 flaunts a slim body which measures 159.9mm in length and 73.2mm in width. With just a weight of 175g, this phone is very easy to handle.

On the back panel, you’ll find the camera module with a triple camera setup and a LED Flash. Out of the three cameras, there’re two large lenses while the secondary camera is surrounded by an RGB ring light which is used to alert incoming calls and notifications, this is where Oppo performed wonders on this phone’s design.

Oppo has separated the power and volume buttons on the Oppo Reno 7 for easy navigation. You get the power button on the right side while the volume button along with the SIM card and SD card slot on the left. On the bottom of the Oppo Reno 7, you can find the USB Type-C charging port in the middle, then the speaker and 3.5mm headphone jack is on their right and left respectively.

Display

Display

The Oppo Reno 7 offers a big screen of a 6.4-inches punch-hole display. Oppo used an AMOLED panel for this phone’s display which has been the best display tech for years. As a result of this, the Oppo Reno 7 flaunts an FHD+ display with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution, a 20.9 aspect ratio and 409ppi density. The display has a 90Hz of refresh rate and a touch sampling rate of 180Hz, all for a smooth and fast experience while scrolling through your screen.

The Oppo Reno 7’s display produces bright and vivid colours which guarantee an amazing multimedia experience. The screen is also bright enough to use in a sunny environment offering up to 800nits of maximum brightness. This phone uses a corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection from scratches.

Camera

Camera

The Oppo Reno 7’s camera has a triple setup just like we earlier. Starting with the main camera which has a 64MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture. The main camera is accompanied by a macro lens of 2MP and f/3.3 aperture. This macro lens just like Oppo explained is capable of doing 15x and 30x magnifications. Lastly, a 2MP depth sensor for portrait photography.

We’re impressed with what the main camera does with taking photos, especially on a sunny day, using a pixel-binned 4-to-1 technology to produce 16MP images. In low-light conditions, especially at night, the camera struggles with taking bright pictures. The dedicated flashlight might help, but photos aren’t sharp and detailed as they were doing the day.

Unfortunately, you’re snapping with no wide field of view option due to the lack of an ultra-wide shooter which Oppo replaced with a macro lens. The 2MP macro lens with its 15x magnification can capture super-sharp images of tiny objects including plants or tissues and can as well use up to 30x magnification. The selfie camera has a 32MP sensor which is very good at taking nice selfies.

Performance, Storage, and Software

The Oppo Reno 7 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset which is a Quad-core processor manufactured using a 6nm processor technology. This chipset is commonly found in most gaming phones and Oppo has based the marketing campaign for this model on gaming services. When it comes to performance, the Reno 7 easily handles any task thrown at it without heating up.

The performance is smooth and easy-going even while playing games. Games like PUGB mobile work perfectly with this phone without any slowdowns or delays.

The Reno 7 features 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Oppo has done well with providing enough storage which includes an option of expanding it through the dedicated microSD card slot.

The Oppo Reno 7 is based on the Android 12 operating system alongside the ColorOS 12 interface. Oppo is known for offering a well-organised settings menu and customizable features. Furthermore, the Reno 7 coming with the latest Android version means there are lots of interesting features plus upgrades for more.
