Xiaomi 13 Pro Review: Features, Specs, and Price in Nigeria

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is hyped to perform better than the iPhone 14, but the idea will raise numerous arguments because the Chinese company has nothing in common with Apple. Xiaomi is a company that has achieved a lot in the world of mobile phones, and the launch of the Xiaomi 13 series will be another remarkable achievement.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is a smartphone that possesses amazing capabilities in all aspects as it’s built using the company’s advanced technologies to deliver incredible features. This could be one of the best smartphones we’ve ever seen, though the iPhone and Samsung flagships have taken the spotlight for a quite long time.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, the same that is used in the standard Xiaomi 13. Both phones are the only two models of the Xiaomi 13 series for now and are expected to be released soon in the global market. The Xiaomi 13 Pro features greater specs than the other model, having a bigger screen with more advanced display features.

The device comes with three camera sensors on the rear just like the latter, but the camera performance of the two phones isn’t the same. As usual, “Pro” models always come in a big way for all smartphones and that’s just the case with the two devices. The Xiaomi 13 Pro uses a 50MP sensor on its three cameras in partnership with Leica lens, but the other model uses a 50MP sensor on its main camera alone.

Therefore, the Xiaomi 13 Pro is expected to be selling for ₦620,000 ($835) after launch. The smartphone is also expected to be available worldwide starting next year, though it may be available in China right after its launch.

Xiaomi has adopted a separate design language for the Xiaomi 13 Pro, which uses a curved screen. The vanilla version, on the other hand, uses a flat screen reminiscent of the iPhone flagships. The display doesn’t curve too much, so handling the phone won’t be stressful even though it measures 162.9 x 74.6 x 8.4 mm or 8.7 mm in dimension which is a large one.

The rear panel is built with a quad-curved surface and a metallic frame. The two versions of the Xiaomi 13 Pro are built with different materials on the rear. One is made with a ceramic material while a silicone polymer material is used on the “Mountain Blue” color version.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro still has other color options like Ceramic White, Ceramic Black, and Ceramic Flora Green. The button placements are the same as the standard Xiaomi 13 where the power button and the volume rocker are situated on the right edge of the phone. Then a USB type-C port and stereo speaker on the bottom, but no 3.5mm headphones jack or micro SD card slot.

The maximum brightness is up to 1900 nits, meaning that the contents displayed on the screen are visible under direct sunlight.

First of all, we admire the camera module of the Xiaomi 13 Pro which reminds us of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. Looking at the huge camera module with the logo that confirms the partnership with Leica, you can predict how powerful the Xiaomi 13 Pro can be while capturing images with it.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro comes with a 50MP main camera that features ALD optical coating to minimize glare and ghosting. Photos captured with the main camera looks clear, natural, and well-detailed in all scenario. The main camera also comes with optical image stabilization technology (OIS) which is also seen on the Xiaomi 13.

The second camera is also as good as the main camera, speaking of a 50MP Leica floating telephoto lens. The telephoto lens which is said to be made about the SLR lens is built with OIS as well. This makes it able to capture close-up photos from a far distance and can achieve a focus range from 10cm to infinity.

Next is another 50MP Leica ultra-wide angle lens that can capture 115° images. This enables you to capture large-scale photos of buildings in one frame. The Leica partnership comes with the creation of a super-colour imaging system. This makes captured photos look exactly the way they are in the real world.

You’ll also get features like the Leica filter, Leica watermark, Leica shutter sound, and master lens package. The Xiaomi 13 Pro also retains the 32MP selfie shooter on the standard version which supports up to 1080p video recording, while the main camera allows for 8k and 4k video recording.

Performance, Storage, and Software

Performance, Storage, and Software

In terms of performance, you won’t have to worry about your phone hanging when you have a chipset like Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 inside the Xiaomi 13 Pro. The same chipset is found in Its sibling, alongside an Adreno 740 GPU for graphics. This means that you might get around the same performance from both phones, but the Xiaomi 13 Pro uses LPDDR 5X + UFS 4.0 storage which makes it faster.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor paired with Adreno 740 GPU makes the Xiaomi 13 Pro capable to handle all graphics-intensive games efficiently. Fortunately, the smartphone comes with four storage options which include 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, and 12GB/512GB.
