The Infinix Hot 12 Play is another budget-friendly smartphone from the company, succeeding the Hot 11 Play of the previous year. The smartphone comes with really nice upgrades as one of the top models in the Infinix Hot series of smartphones. Also, the Infinix Hot 12 Play is priced at a reasonable amount as you would expect from an Infinix phone.
For the past few years, Infinix has stood firmly on its culture of offering budget-centric smartphones with an increasing number of users across the globe. Just like companies such as Apple, Samsung, and Xiaomi have been dominating the flagship segment of smartphones, Infinix is one of the first that comes to mind in terms of affordable phones.
The Hot 12 Play is one of Infinix latest smartphones to lead the company’s “Hot” series. The smartphone comes with a large screen that boats 90Hz of refresh rate and a touch sampling rate of 180Hz. It has a 13MP main camera sensor with an 8MP front-facing sensor for selfies.
The Infinix Hot 12 Play is a smartphone with outstanding basic features of every mobile phone. The performance as well feels great for all-day long use, and it packs a huge 6000mAh battery that would easily last longer on normal use. Infinix Hot 12 Play: Price in Nigeria and Availability
The Infinix Hot 12 Play was launched on 12 May along with the rest of the Infinix Hot 12 models. The smartphone comes in multiple colours and three storage variants. Infinix has made this phone available in several countries across Asia and Africa.
For pricing, the Infinix Hot 12 Play is selling at ₦84,000 ($107) for the base 4GB /64GB storage variant. The bigger 4GB /128GB storage variant is priced at a higher amount, so you should bear that in mind before purchasing the Infinix Hot 12 Play.

Design
The Infinix Hot 12 looks like an ordinary smartphone, with a rectangular camera array on the left corner of its rear and a fingerprint scanner. There’s nothing much to talk about the design because that’s what we normally see on most phones, especially the ones from Infinix itself.
Thankfully, the design doesn’t feel cheap even when it’s built with plastic material. The rear is designed with stripes that look beautiful in each of the colours you find the Infinix Hot 12 Play in. We find it a little disappointing to see the outdated rear fingerprint sensor in this new era where most budget phones are using side-mounted sensors.
Even the rear fingerprint scanner was placed too high, making the smartphone a bit hard to use single-handedly. Added that the smartphone is also big in size and weight will make it difficult to handle by someone with a small palm. The power and volume buttons are situated in the right corner while the SIM/micro SD card slot is on the left.
Infinix Hot 12 Play: Display
The front panel of the Infinix Hot 12 Play features a 6.82-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels. The display does really well with colors, brightness, and contrast considering the phone’s price. And the 90Hz of refresh rate is a very remarkable upgrade from the previous Infinix Hot 11 Play.
The display has a screen-to-body ratio of 90.66% which is nice for watching movies. We would have loved to see a Full HD panel considering the phone’s large screen. This will make the display more vibrant and visible outdoors. The punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera is amazing, at least to makes the display look more appealing.

Camera
From our view, the camera is not the focus on the Hot 12 Play. That wasn’t a surprise to us because you’ll hardly find an Infinix phone with a powerful camera, though you can find some when you opt for their flagships like the Infinix Zero Ultra. The Infinix Hot 12 Play only has two camera sensors on the rear, consisting of a 13MP main camera and a secondary Al lens
The front-facing camera features an 8MP sensor with dual-LED flash while the main camera features a dual-LED flash as well. Its main camera only captures some good-looking images when you use it in broad daylight. However, low light and night photographs lose a great amount of detail, even when you provide artificial lighting.
Some of the camera’s shooting modes like portraits look very fine. The selfie camera as well performs impressively while taking selfies either single or group selfies. The front flash helps to produce good-looking selfies in any given scenario which is great to see.

Performance, Storage, and Software
The performance of the Infinix Hot 12 Play is just as we expected. The device gets very responsive and quick when you perform some easy tasks. You can open the music app and tune in your favorite music to play in the background while you scroll through your social media feeds.
But in some situations when you open multiple apps at once or try to multitask, the Infinix Hot 12 Play gets a bit slow. The smartphone would go a long way if you use it moderately without performing heavy tasks that will slow down its performance. An octa-core MediaTek Helio G35 processor powers the phone alongside a Mali G52 GPU.
While gaming, the smartphone struggles to deliver a decent performance because it gets too hot within some minutes of gameplay. Thankfully, it kept up with some casual games with the help of a high refresh rate which makes scrolling through the screen feel smooth and lag-free. The storage unit uses 4GB RAM and 64GB of in-built storage, including the 4GB/128GB higher storage version.
The XOS 10 comes with several upgrades like the trending system-wide icons, smart panel, Dar-link 2.0 Game Booster Software, and a privacy tracker to provide a secure and easier user experience. Fortunately, the Android 11 OS enables more functionality and navigation options across the phone’s system.
Infinix Hot 12 Play: Battery Capacity and Charging
The Infinix Hot 12 Play is equipped with a 6000mAh battery which will take a long while to be exhausted. With this huge battery capacity, the smartphone was able to last up to 8hrs on screen-on-time usage. Possibly, you can use the smartphone for two days if you limit your usage to a moderate level.
The 10W fast charging support is no match to the 6000mAh battery inside the Hot 12 Play. As a result, the smartphone takes longer to be fully charged. But if you could wait patiently for up to 2hrs and some minutes, you won’t have to worry about battery drainage until two or more days which sounds interesting.
