The Infinix Zero 20 is a great phone with outstanding day-to-day performance that’s made possible by the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset in combination with 8GB RAM, plus a good camera at an affordable price. However, it might struggle to compete with the Poco F4 5G that’s in the same price segment as it.
Just recently, Infinix released two new Zero Ultra and Zero 20 smartphones as successors to last year’s Infinix Zero 5G. The Infinix Zero 20 is the lower model of the Zero Ultra but has similar specs in terms of screen size, RAM, and storage memory. It has amazing specs and performance that could rival the best Infinix phones of this year.
However, the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset might not be the best for this phone especially when it comes to gaming, but it’s quite good for your normal day-to-day tasks. Meanwhile, it launches with the latest Android 12-based XOS 12 out of the box which gives you amazing customizable options and features.
While the Infinix Zero 20 has great outstanding features, there are other minor downsides that might make you go for other phones. Our best Xiaomi smartphones will help you decide the one that’s best for you if you’re a Redmi fan. Nevertheless, Samsung Galaxy phones are the best option to go for if you’re looking for flagship Android phones to buy. Oppo smartphones have plenty of mid-range handsets that sell at affordable prices. Nevertheless, let’s take a look at the Infinix Zero 20 review to see what it looks like.

Infinix Zero 20: Price in Nigeria and Availability
The Infinix Zero 20 is currently priced in Nigeria at ₦212,000 (roughly $290) for the base 8GB RAM with 128GB built-in storage. In India, the Infinix Zero 20 sells at a price of ₹30,499 while those in Bangladesh can get it at BDT 35,000.
According to Infinix, the official release and availability of the Zero Ultra will vary based on region, but it’s already available for pre-order purchase in Nigeria via the Infinix Xpark website. Infinix provides certain discounts to the first set of fans to pre-order the Zero 20 device and a chance to win other valuable Infinix electronics.
For comparisons, the Infinix Zero 20 levels against the Poco F4 (₦240,000), Samsung Galaxy A53 5G (₦230,000), and the latest Oppo A74 5G (₦170,000). Nevertheless, the Infinix 55-inch QLED is a top-notch TV to buy this year.

Design and Display
The Infinix Zero 20 has a good design with flat edges apart from the corners that are a bit curved but can’t be compared to that of the Zero Ultra. Meanwhile, it had unique enticing colourways of Space Gray, Glitter Gold, and Green Fantasy.
However, a mere looking at the phone’s design will tell you it’s an affordable phone, especially its plastic back. It has thick bezels with a teardrop notch which shouldn’t be on a 2022 mid-range smartphone. We feel Infinix’s choice of design is to show the Zero Ultra’s superiority over the Zero 20. Fortunately, you can easily slide the phone into your back pocket, thanks to its 196g net weight which sits on the average side.
Fans that are tired of the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor will surely enjoy the side-mounted fingerprint reader that’s embedded alongside the power button on the Infinix Zero 20. This sensor easily unlocks your phone within 2 seconds. Meanwhile, the camera bump is massive and it’s probably the only other thing aside from the side-mounted fingerprint scanner that makes the Zero 20 device look more like a flagship phone.
The Infinix Zero 20 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate is decent for the price. Most costlier phones have only a 60Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the phone is showing at 1080 × 2400 pixel resolution with an 86.0% screen-to-body ratio that makes watching your favourite movie series, reading, or browsing the internet interesting. However, if you don’t like the Infinix Zero 20 display, consider going for the Samsung Galaxy F23 5G.
Camera
Good camera performance is one of the most important features of every smartphone and the Zero 20 didn’t lack that. Considering the price of this phone, it comes with a great camera spec that won’t disappoint you. There’s a 108MP primary camera on the back of the phone that’s assisted by two other generic sensors of 13MP ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP macro lens.
Upfront is a large resolution 60MP selfie camera. This puts the Infinix Zero 20 among the phones with the highest selfie camera resolution and we’re sure it won’t disappoint in real-life performance.
In good lighting conditions, the Infinix Zero 20 camera will take natural-looking photos that’ll surpass other affordable phones. However, low light performance is where the camera struggles, but it’s still manageable with the assistance of Night mode and Quad-LED flash. 1440p video recording can be only taken at 30fps.

Performance, Storage, and Software
The MediaTek Helio G99 chipset is another great mid-range processor with power efficient 6nm fabrication process. It performed absolutely great in normal day-to-day tasks, but couldn’t play most demanding games at their best settings although they play perfectly well in low graphics settings.
However, the Infinix Zero 20 is not a 5G device so you’ll miss out on the latest internet connection. But you can check out our list of the best 5G phones to buy if you want a handset with a fast internet connection. Nevertheless, the Zero 20 device has a single 8GB RAM variant, but with dual 128GB and 256GB storage options. This comes with a microSDXC dedicated card slot where you can insert an SDcard if you’re not satisfied with the available storage space.
The latest Infinix Zero 20 uses Android 12-based XOS 12 software. This is the current latest Android software and it puts the Zero 20 among the phones that’ll receive Android 13 next year. Just like many affordable phones, it debuts with some bloatware apps you might not like to see but our article on how to remove Bloatware apps on Android phones will be of great help to you.

Infinix Zero 20: Battery Capacity and Fast Charge
The Infinix Zero 20 is equipped with an average battery size of 4500mAh. However, it doesn’t call for much concern as the phone doesn’t require a lot of power due to its low chipset. Nevertheless, you can easily get more than a day of use with this battery. This can translate to up to 5 days when you only use the phone for basic things like phone calls, messaging, or a couple of photography sessions.
Unlike the Infinix Zero Ultra which has a 180W Thunder Charge, the Infinix Zero 20 comes with a 45W Fast Charge that powers the phone from 0 to 75% in 30 minutes. This although not the fastest, but it’s outstanding for a phone of this price.
