The Oppo A76 is now officially released, sporting a massive 6.56-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The A76 is among the newest first set of phones from the company to grace 2022 having been launched on February 17. It’s no longer a surprise to us how beautiful Oppo’s latest phones are starting from the Find X3 Pro.
The company continues with that design trend down to the A76 although the outer appearance is not that flagship, but it has a stylish design that’s hard to resist. The Oppo A96’s rear camera arrangement is very similar to those of the A96 as they both feature two noticeable camera bumps. Apart from the design, the Oppo A76 comes with a Snapdragon 680 that handles the performance duties. Under the hood is a 5000mAh battery that acts as the phone’s powerhouse.

Design
Similar to most recent mid-range phones from Oppo, the A76 has a simple but sturdy design that displays the charming OPPO Glow technology. The phone is available in Glowing Black and Glowing Blue colours which are enticing enough to captivate everyone’s attention. One exciting feature about the Oppo A76’s design is how it’s prone to fingerprint and dust.
Flipping through the back is a protruding dual camera setup at the top-left corner that’s similar to the one on A96. The phone’s slim-fitting makes it very slippery that’s why we suggest making use of the provided silicone case or buying your preferred choice if you detest the one provided in the box. However, the phone’s slim stature makes it comfortable to grip and easy to slide into your pockets.
The Oppo A76 volume rocker and power button are separated between the left and right sides of the phone respectively. Just slightly above the volume rocker is a triple tray that houses the two nano-SIMs and microSD cards. On the right side, the power button doubles up as a fingerprint scanner. Although the buttons are plastic, they’re tactile enough and firm to respond with a single click.
Moving down to the bottom of the phone is the USB-C port, primary microphone, sound stereo speakers, and 3.5mm headphone jack; while on top is the secondary noise-cancelling microphone.

Display
Moving over to the display, we have a 6.56-inch IPS LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, 269ppi density, and 720 x 1612 pixels resolution. There’s also a 180Hz touch sampling rate that provides a fast response especially when gaming.
While the Oppo A76 display is stuck at HD+, it’s still bright enough for indoor and outdoor use. Meanwhile, you can easily customise the phone’s display to suit your preference. There’s a dark mode, eye care, screen colour temperature, and many others you can tweak anyhow you want.
Also, you can decide to drop down the refresh rate to 60Hz if you want to preserve the battery. Unfortunately, the phone lacks an always-on-display which we didn’t even expect on a phone of this price.
Camera
Oppo decided to reduce the A76 camera to two for reasons best known to them. The Oppo A76 consists of 23MP total camera sensors with the rear main camera having a 13MP sensor that’s assisted by a 2MP depth sensor. Upfront, you’re getting an 8MP sensor that’s in charge of selfie duties.
Performance-wise, daylight shots are fairly great with a good amount of details. However, the A76’s dynamic range and colour reproduction are not that good, with the portrait mode failing to blur the background accurately.
Due to the limited number of sensors, there’s no ultra-wide and macro lens here, but you can zoom in up to 6x. When it comes to lowlight shots, photos are taken with a lot of noise due to the lack of dedicated Night mode, but you can tweak it with the phone’s photo editor to get a better result.
For selfies, there’s nothing much to say here as you can take good looking photos that are good for social media upload. Pictures taken with the 8MP front camera appear to be fantastic with great details and colour reproduction.

Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Oppo A76 is powered by an entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G chipset with Adreno 610 in charge of graphics. The phone’s processor is assisted by 6GB of RAM (with up to 5GB expansion).
The Oppo A76‘s day-to-day performance is quite decent with basic tasks like browsing, streaming movies, listening to music, etc been done without any lag. However, launching multiple apps at the same time will slow down the smooth running of the phone.
As for gaming, high-end games like Asphalt 9, PUGB, etc can be played at the lowest graphics settings, but don’t expect to get the best of performance.
Running the software is last year’s Android 11 that’s based on ColorOS 11.1. Despite being outdated, there are tons of customisable options including fingerprint style, font colour change, app layouts, icon styles, etc. Also, the Oppo OS allows you to customise the navigation buttons any way you prefer.
Just like most phones, the Oppo A76 comes with few bloatware pre-installed apps like Facebook, YouTube, Maps, and other Google apps.

Battery Capacity
As for the battery, the A76 packs a 5000mAh battery capacity with 33W superVOOC fast charging support. The A76 can easily last you for more than 24 hours if you’re not a heavy user and it takes not more than one hour to charge when the battery is down.
Oppo A76: Price in Nigeria and Availability
The Oppo A76 is currently selling in Nigeria at ₦155,000 ($265) for the 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage variant. This puts it slightly below the Oppo A96 (₦215,000), but far ahead of the selling price of Xiaomi Redmi 10C (₦87,000).
As for availability, the A76 was officially launched in Nigeria on February 18, 2022, and is currently available for purchase at any accredited or third party stores nationwide.
