Tecno Pova Neo Review: Full Specs, Features, and Price in Nigeria

Tecno is out with a new smartphone called the Tecno Pova Neo. This smartphone was launched in December 2021 as an entry-level device and has established itself as one of the best without costing that much. The Tecno Pova Neo is designed for those who put price and battery capacity first before buying a phone because it exceeded in both. This phone comes with a 6000mAh battery which you’ll hardly find in another phone of the same price range.

If you might think that’s not enough reason to consider this phone, the Tecno Pova Neo has a 6.8-inch HD+ screen, 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage, a dual-camera setup of 13MP main shooter and 8MP selfie camera. Also, the Pova Neo comes with some impressive features which you might be interested in.

As long as price is concerned you have to expect some compromises in this phone, meaning that Tecno has cut corners elsewhere. The Pova Neo lacks a 5G network connectivity, though that’s not a big problem since the 4G LTE here is also reliable. The Mediatek Helio G25 chipset is known to be an old processor. If you’re satisfied with what the Tecno Pova Neo has brought to the table depending on what you need from it, then you’re getting a capable smartphone without paying much.

The Tecno Pova Neo is built just like every other entry-level smartphone which we’ve understood that they are built to a certain budget due to their cheap price. Tecno still managed to deliver a decent design with this phone. The plastic back is just what we expected with a textured finish which offers a smooth feel while holding this phone. The rear back panel features a fingerprint scanner placed at the centre.

Moving over to the back panel is a rectangular camera bump which houses a dual-camera setup and a Quad-LED flash. The volume and power buttons are placed at the right corner while the 3.5mm headphone jack, USB port, and the speaker grille were situated at the bottom.

The Tecno Pova Neo comes in three colours namely Obsidian, Geek blue, and Powehi. When it comes to build quality, the Pova Neo has a very good design despite not having a glass back. The plastic back with its textured finish gave this phone a premium look.

Display

Upfront, the Tecno Pova Neo flaunts a 6.8-inch screen with HD+ resolution. The phone’s display is built with an IPS LCD panel which produces vivid colours and a decent refresh rate of 60Hz. Its screen is huge enough for consuming media content up to the size of the 7-inch tablets that were commonly used those days. Also, the max brightness level is good, though the 480nits of max brightness might not be enough for outdoor usage.

The already outdated teardrop notch screen is what we’ve always expected from this phone due to its price, but that doesn’t mean you won’t enjoy watching content on this phone’s screen. The Pova Neo’s screen is simply built for watching movies on and its loudspeaker makes the whole experience a wonderful one.

Camera

The Tecno Pova Neo has a dual-camera setup on its rear. Its dual-camera setup features a 13MP sensor as the primary shooter which will allow users to record Full HD videos at 30fps. We’re impressed with the way the main camera captures images, producing quality photos with enough details. The main camera also takes nice pictures under low-light conditions, but it doesn’t pull out much light from the image.

Though this phone’s camera isn’t good enough for Instagram or TikTok users who want their photos to be all that good, but might work for those who just want to take simple photos. The Tecno Pova Neo has an 8MP sensor for taking selfies which can as well produce quality images.

Performance, Storage, and Software

The chipset in the Tecno Pova Neo is the Mediatek Helio G25 which is a low-budget processor. This chipset lacks the 5G network connectivity, but it shouldn’t be something to complain about since the price you paid can only afford a 4G LTE. The Pova Neo performs very well for your daily tasks like browsing the internet and social media, scrolling through your social media feeds, and other less-demanding tasks.

Light games like the Temple Run or Subway Surf work perfectly with this device. Playing graphics-demanding games might run into a bit of lagging since this chipset isn’t gaming oriented.

The Tecno Pova Neo has 4GB and 6GB of RAM variants as well as 64GB and 128GB of internal storage. For each storage you choose, there is an SD card slot for the expansion of memory.

The Tecno Pova Neo runs the Android 11 operating system alongside Tecno’s HiOS 7.6 interface. Though this version doesn’t introduce anything new, but the interface runs smooth, fast, and easy to navigate.

Battery

The most significant part of the Tecno Pova Neo lies in the battery. The Tecno Pova Neo has offered a 6000mAh battery and still provided an 18W fast charging support. Fortunately, the phone can last up to two days based on what you use it for.

  1. This phone is good for nothing, I buy the phone and it is switch off and aON by it self more than 1hurs

    That is not all
The phone camera is very poor than it expected

The phone is very good sincerely in battery, but all the phone now switch off by it self and deleting all my downloading app both games, Truecaller and e.t.c , the phone is not working well at all, abeg is not Tecno product, Tecno miss this phone please 😭

    • My dear that’s from where you bought yours from… because a new Pova Neo runs fast and smoothly.
What do you really expect from a 13mp rare camera and a 8mp selfie camera?..
The camera is pretty cool for it’s price.
If you need a very high quality images then you need 64 or more MP rare camera and 18, 32 or more MP selfie camera. And of-course you can’t get it cheap as Pova Neo.
So don’t say it’s good for nothing.. because that’s a wrong review
