Samsung has really made an impact in the world of mobile technology, blessing us with different tastes of mid-range smartphones for those who want it. This means you don’t have to spend a whole $1000 for just buying a phone. Instead, you can divide this huge amount of money into two and use the other for something else. The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G was launched by Samsung alongside the Galaxy A53 5G on March 15, 2022. This phone is a great alternative if you can not afford the $550 Galaxy A53.
The phone is a true definition of a mid-range phone. Though this phone is far from being the best mid-range phone you can find in the market either by screen, performance, or even camera, but it can be placed somewhere in the middle. The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G is almost the same as the A53 5G in terms of designs, but when it comes to interiors like camera or performance, they are totally different smartphones. Asides from that you are still getting a 5000mAh battery and a 5G support from the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G, you’re getting amazing mid-range performance in a flagship chassis.
The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G comes with a bright display screen, amazing cameras, and a solid performance. This phone features everything you are expecting from a mid-range phone plus extras without even toping its price to match its qualities. The designs of the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G is perfect for a mid-range phone. Looking just like the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, it’s still an all-plastic back panel with the camera module slightly raised from the material. The camera module houses a four-camera setup with a LED Flash. Samsung never failed to show off her brand’s official logo “Samsung” down the back panel of this phone.
Having 159.7 x 74 x 8.1 mm in dimensions, the Galaxy A33 5G seems sizeable for the hands, no matter the size, it could either fit your hands or be slightly big. Also, it weighs around 186g which is a bit lesser than that of the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, meaning that this phone isn’t too heavy to handle. As for the buttons, you can find the power and volume buttons on the right corner of the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G. There is also a USB Type-C port but unfortunately, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G has an IP53 rating which means this phone is highly protected against water splash and dust. This smartphone was also made to be available in four different colour options. You can choose from Black, White, Peach, or Blue depending on your taste.
On the front of the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G sits a 6.4-inch display screen. The display screen is built with an AMOLED panel which has a Full HD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) resolution and 800 nits of max brightness. This ensures the display colours are bright with sharp contrast giving this phone a very comfortable screen to watch contents on.
The AMOLED panel comes with a 90Hz refresh rate that’s enough to provide a faster response while scrolling through your screen. Though the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G comes with 120Hz, the 90Hz refresh rate on A33 isn’t a bad idea at all. On top of the display screen is a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection against scratches. There is also a punch-hole cutout for the front camera at the top centre of the screen, while below it is an in-display fingerprint scanner.
In terms of camera, the Galaxy A33 5G didn’t miss out on Samsung’s quad-camera set up for its “A” series smartphones. The four cameras feature the 48-MP primary shooter, 8MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP macro camera, and 2MP depth sensor. Starting with the main camera, photos taken with it looks stunning just like we expected from a 48MP sensor. Surprisingly, the main camera comes with Optical image optimization which you can’t find in most budget smartphones.
The main camera is assisted by an 8MP Ultra-wide sensor, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Though we are beginning to adapt to the 2MP macro lens which Samsung has been including in its camera setup, but we are still overwhelmed with the upgraded 5MP for taking closed up images. To summarize the four cameras, they can take nice pictures with a sharp Bokeh effect that produces background blurs. One of the best features of this phone’s camera is the ability to record videos at 4k without any decline in quality.
The front camera features a 13MP sensor for taking selfies, recording videos, and making video calls. You can also set up the face unlock feature with the front camera for additional security.
Performance, Storage, and Software

With this powerful processor, the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G is lag-free and offers a decent experience for your daily activities like scrolling through your media feeds, streaming YouTube videos and browsing through the internet.
The chipset is accompanied by 6GB RAM which helps to enhance the phone’s performance speed. The 6GB RAM is paired with 128GB of internal storage. In case you might need extra storage, there is also an SD card slot that you can use to expand the phone’s storage to 1TB.
The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G runs the latest version of Android which is the Android 12, alongside Samsung’s One UI 4 overlay which is their latest as well. This smartphone introduces a whole lot of interesting features making this phone user-friendly and easy to navigate.
