Much of the Xiaomi line of scooters have a similar design with aerospace-grade aluminium used for the majority of the framework and handles, while the main platform, battery-pack housing and rear fender are made from sturdy plastics. This gave it a strong feeling and the foldable mechanism which Xiaomi claims can be done within 3 seconds, which means the Mi Scooter Pro 2 can easily be folded or unfolded.
Also, it makes it easy to carry the scooter by the handlebars and it’s sizeable enough to fit into the boot of small cars. The Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro 2 features a powerful display which shows the mode (Standard, Pedestrian or Sport), speed, and battery level. Also, it flaunts a powerful LED headlight as well as rear brake light that can be switched through the Mobil app.
For added visibility and to be in line with the new EU legislation, the Pro 2 comes with front, side and rear reflectors. This helps while riding at nighttime or for wasting power in daylight, although most fans complained the light is too bright, but we found nothing wrong with that.

Performance and Riding
Thankfully, the Pro 2 riding experience is fast and smooth with easy controls and sensitive thumb throttle proving easy to modulate. Also, the Pro 2 has a hydraulic disc brake in the rear and a regenerative brake in its front wheel.
Additionally, the Pro 2 IP54 waterproof rating protects the scooter against water splashing especially when riding while it’s raining. Meanwhile, avoid washing the scooter with water to avoid damaging the battery, rather a simple wiping will do.
The addition of pneumatic tyres that have an 8.5-inch size does a great job of ironing out bumps in the road and tackling rougher surfaces. However, this will make it hard to change if you get a puncture considering it’s rare to find in the market, but Xiaomi added a set of spare tyres in the box. All you’ve to do is to keep them pumped up to avoid getting flat tyres.
Similar to the M365 and other Xiaomi scooters, the Pro 2 is well-balanced and easy to control even if it’s your first time of riding a scooter. Thankfully, the Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro 2 acceleration and braking are easy and effective due to the low centre of gravity. Furthermore, you’ll enjoy a smooth ride so far that the ground is reasonably level.
Meanwhile, we recommend wearing a helmet while riding the scooter as part of safety measures. This is very necessary as most electric scooter injuries are encountered when the wheels tackle cobble stones or enter into portholes.
While buying the Mi Scooter Pro 2, bear in mind it requires the Xiaomi Home smartphone app (iOS and Android) to function. This is necessary as many third-party apps that claim to be compatible with the Xiaomi range of scooters are not. You can easily connect the app through Bluetooth and remotely use it to control the Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro 2.
Furthermore, you can use the Xiaomi Home smartphone app to lock the scooter, operate Cruise Control, adjust the regenerative braking levels, and do other functions. It’s a fairly basic app that we found enticing, especially while using it to see the distance travelled and the battery level.
Also, there are many riding modes ranging from the pedestrian mode to the standard (D) mode, and then the full-fat Sports (S) mode, all to basically limit your top speed. This is a neat safety precaution that works according to where you’re riding and can be easily switched to by pressing a single button.
