Poco has emerged as one of Xiaomi’s prominent sub-brands, releasing some quality 5G smartphones like the Poco X4 Pro 5G and Poco M3 Pro 5G. The latest flagship Poco F4 GT which was tagged a gaming device has offered some impressive features that are specifically aimed at gamers. The F4 GT was officially released in April 2022, few months after the official release of the Poco X4 Pro 5G.
The Poco F4 GT is a 6.67-inch smartphone with impressive specs. This phone has a responsive display with a breathtaking refresh rate of 120Hz which makes scrolling through the screen, especially while playing competitive games a clinch. There’s enough RAM storage of 8GB /128GB and 12GB /256GB storage options depending on your budget. For snappy gaming performance, the F4 GT is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset with a 4700mAh battery capacity.
Poco has prepared some useful features specifically designed for gamers which includes pop-up triggers. Being a gaming smartphone doesn’t deprive the F4 GT of other potential as Poco assured us that this phone isn’t solely for gaming, but if you’re seeking a quality and affordable gaming smartphone, then the Poco F4 GT should be your number 1 choice.

The design of the Poco F4 GT is just like other gaming phones we’ve witnessed in the past years, almost like the Redmi K50 which was released earlier. Other gaming phones with similar design include Asus ROG Phone 5 and Red Magic. They both spot an RGB lighting, odd angles, and metal sheets, just that the Poco F4 GT comes a bit different to avoid looking like a gaming phone entirely which it is not.
Poco did put in a lot of work in designing the back panel, producing a glass back with a narrow strip down the surface and two angular patterns halfway down the edge of each of the surfaces. The back panel also flaunts a triple camera setup and a LED Flash shaped like a lightning bolt outside the rectangular camera bump. There’re RGB light strings attached to the triple camera bump which notifies the user of an incoming call, messages, or while charging the phone.
The sides of the Poco F4 GT feature the pop-up trigger buttons at the right which work as gaming controllers. You can enable them by flicking adjacent physical switches. Except that, they are flush with the surface’s edge by default. The power button which is also built as a fingerprint scanner is positioned at the right corner, while the volume buttons along with the SIM slot are situated at the left.
The Poco F4 GT comes in three colour options namely the Knight Silver, Cyber Yellow, and Stealth Black. Each of them produces different colour highlights on the back.

Gaming phones are known for having high refresh rates, so the Poco F4 GT shouldn’t be an exception as the device’s 120Hz refresh rate is still worth appreciating. The phone comes with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution. The screen produces enough maximum brightness up to 800nits and a DCI-P3 colour gamut support.
The screen’s touch sampling rate reaches 480Hz which makes scrolling through different apps on your screen a smooth experience. There’s also an LTPO refresh rate setting that can automatically adjust the refresh rate down to 1Hz to save battery. You can as well switch between 60Hz and 120Hz manually if you wish to.
The Poco F4 GT has a triple camera lens at the back which consists of a 64MP f/1.9 Sony IMX686 as the main shooter. The main camera can handle all the shooting tasks, producing wonderful images with enough details, but that’s all in good light conditions. The 20MP front camera is very good for taking selfies, recording videos at 4k, and making video calls.
Due to the absence of a telephoto lens, the 2x zooming is taken by the main shooter including portrait photographs which it does a nice job with. There’s also an 8MP ultra-wide shooter which can take photos at a wide range but far from producing sharp images like the main shooter. The 2MP sensor helps you take close-up images, but we doubt if it gets the job done with its limited megapixels.

Performance, Storage, and Software
The Poco F4 GT is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset which is the standard for flagship phones. This strong processor ensures the Poco F4 GT is free from any form of lag especially while playing games which this phone is assigned for. Games like PUGB mobile and other graphics-demanding games play perfectly on this phone. Aside from gaming, the Poco F4 GT can also handle multitasking with ease.
In memory, this phone comes in 8GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage, and 12GB of RAM with 256GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, Poco didn’t include an SDcard slot for the expansion of memory.
The Poco F4 GT is based on the Android 12 operating system and the MIUI 13 overlay. This phone comes with lots of apps, features, and setting tweaks which makes your experience with this phone worth enjoying. Poco has added a gaming control app called Game Turbo which enables you set some specific software and hardware settings before playing any game.
