Design and Build-up

Design and Build-up

The Redmi 10 2022 has a similar design to the Redmi 10 just like we earlier said. Furthermore, the device has a completely plastic body with a matte polycarbonate back that made it feel more premium. However, unlike its predecessor, the Redmi 10 2022 has a 181g weight that gave it a light feeling and makes it very handy to carry about.

Similar to its predecessor, the Xiaomi Redmi 10 2022 screen is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which helps to keep the price low. Meanwhile, the plastic rear is durable and shiny although there’s no water-resistant rating. There are some nice touches too including NFC, an IR blaster, and a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom edge. On the top left corner is the dual-SIM tray alongside an SDcard slot that does not require you to sacrifice one in place of another. This is specifically useful especially when you’re going for the basic 64GB storage variant.

For a budget phone, it’s a surprise to see the fingerprint shifted to work alongside the power button. This is the same feature of Note 10 that makes it unique. The Xiaomi Redmi 10 2022 design has a premium feeling and overwhelming. We don’t think anything will stop you from buying this device.

Also, there’s a dedicated SDcard slot on the left which is accompanied by two SIM slots, all allocated inside one tray. The top side of the phone is occupied by a 3.5mm headphone jack alongside a secondary noise cancellation mic while the bottom has the phone’s speaker and USB-C port.

Display

Xiaomi Redmi 10 2022: Display

Moving over to the display, you’ll be welcomed by a 6.6-inch LCD screen with 1080 × 1600 (FHD+) resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. This display quality is something we’ve seen on most Xiaomi mid-range phones, so we are not surprised to see them here too. We understand it’s meant to keep the price low.

The Xiaomi Redmi 10 2022 just like last year’s Redmi 10 doesn’t sport any upgrade. Fortunately, there’s a 90Hz refresh rate that makes strolling through the photos, watching movies, or playing games smoothly and it’s rare to see on a budget device. At 6.5-inch, it has the same size as the Redmi 9 but sports a dot-hole notch instead of the normal teardrop screen notch.

Furthermore, the Redmi 10 2022 display has a built-in colour calibration tool to help keep it cool and real life-like. Despite being an LCD panel, the phone has decent viewing angles, but with some noticeable bleeding around the camera cutout. Overall, this is a perfect mid-range phone display for all kinds of work if you don’t have much money to go for a flagship phone.

Camera

Cameras

Similar to its predecessor, the Xiaomi Redmi 10 2022 has an insane quad-camera set-up which is outstanding for a budget phone. A 50-MP primary shooter that is accompanied by an 8-MP ultrawide sensor, 2-MP macro lens, and another 2-MP depth sensor is more than enough to give you a decent camera performance. The front side is dominated by an 8-MP revolutionary selfie shooter that can take decent images in perfect daylight conditions.

In daylight settings, the camera works well and delivers perfect photos above its competitors, credit to Xiaomi’s AI cam mode. Despite being a budget device, we were very impressed by how detailed the photos taken were which makes the image quality incredible. There’s no doubt this is the feature where the Redmi 10 2022 shines most.

When it comes to video, we’re very impressed with the 4k resolution which can give you either 720p or 1080p at 30fps. Unfortunately, there’s no optical image stabilization (OIS) which results in shaky videography.

Performance and Software

Performance and Software

The general performance from the MediaTek Helio G88 chipset is very impressive playing basic games comfortably without experiencing any lag. Meanwhile, your expectations shouldn’t be so high as its gaming performance is below that of the Redmi Note 11 family. This G88 chipset is a step down from the MediaTek Helio G95 equipped in the Redmi Note 11S.

When it comes to storage, you’re getting dual storage options of 64GB and 128GB which are paired with 4GB of RAM. Meanwhile, you still have the option to insert up to 2TB SDcard if in case the provided storage isn’t enough for you.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Redmi 10 2022 runs on Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 custom interface. While some fans find Xiaomi’s interface confusing, we still prefer it to standard Android as it has some of the best customisations on a smartphone once you find your way around its settings.

Being a 2022 device, the Xiaomi Redmi 10 2022 is among the phones from the company that’ll receive the latest Android 12 update. This will make the OS smoother and faster compared to previous iterations and helps to improve the user’s experience.

Battery Capacity

Battery Capacity

Recently, battery life are no longer considered when buying a smartphone as almost all phones are equipped with a durable battery that can comfortably last for a day. The Xiaomi Redmi 10 2022 has a 5000mAh that’s increasingly becoming normal for entry-level phones. The 5000mAh on the Xiaomi Redmi 10 2022 can easily last for 48 hours on average use and 24 hours on heavy usage.

Meanwhile, it comes equipped with the same 18W fast charging support that can power the phone from empty to full battery in less than 2 hours. However, we found this a bit slow compared to other 2022 phones, but it’s better than having nothing.

Price and Availability

Xiaomi Redmi 10 2022: Price in Nigeria and Availability

The Xiaomi Redmi 10 2022 is officially available for purchase in Nigeria. That’s to say you can buy the Redmi 10 at Jumia, Konga, or other online and offline stores in Nigeria.

The Xiaomi Redmi 10 2022 has two models with the entry-level 4GB /64GB model costing about ₦105,000 (equivalent to $177) while the variant with the same RAM but bigger 128GB inbuilt storage will be on sale at ₦120,000 (about $203). This is almost the same price as last year’s Redmi 10.

Since the Xiaomi Redmi 10 2022 is the exact carbon copy of the Redmi 10, it’s not worth upgrading to if you already have its predecessor. However, those who are yet to buy should go for the Redmi 10 2022 as it has more chance to receive future software updates than the other.
