And while Samsung’s most premium phones like the Galaxy S22 Ultra, S22 Plus as well as the Galaxy Z Foldables were all taking up the whole space in the market, not everyone can afford their hefty price. The Samsung Galaxy A03 comes as an option for those who want to use a quality Samsung smartphone without emptying their bank account.
Samsung released the Galaxy A03 as an affordable entry-level smartphone that exhibits all the basic qualities of a mobile phone like making calls, capturing photos, and web browsing.
Samsung first launched the Galaxy A03s in September with a relatively old chipset. However, Samsung released an upgraded model known as the Galaxy AO3 with a UNISOC T606 processor and an upgraded 48MP main camera. This phone features a 6.5-inch drop-notch screen up front which has a 6OHz refresh rate. You either get 3GB /32GB or 4GB /64GB depending on the model you choose.
Despite being an entry-level smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A03 boasts lots of incredible specs that can compete effortlessly in the mid-range market. Only the slower UNISOC T606 processor and a few other cutouts especially with the selfie camera kept this phone below other superior Samsung smartphones.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy A03 also features a standard 5000mAh battery capacity. Here’s the rest of the Galaxy A03 along with its price in the Nigerian market.

Design and Display
Having a plastic body, you can easily tell that this is an entry-level device at a first glance. The plastic material doesn’t attract smudges and fingerprints easily due to its matte finish as well as subtle patterns that ensure a firm grip while handling the phone. A dual-camera array with a LED flash is situated at the left corner of the rear panel.
The Samsung Galaxy A03 is designed to match its profile and if you’re looking for an entry-level device that has a bit of a premium look, the Galaxy A03 is good to consider.
The left corner of the phone hosts a SIM /microSD card slot. On the right corner, you get the power and volume buttons while the 3.5mm headphone jack, micro-USB port, and mono speakers with Dolby Atmos support are positioned below.

The overall build quality of this phone is good, provided you can handle it with ease. The Samsung Galaxy A03 also lacks IP53 dust and water protection which is rare to find at this price point.
The front features a 6.5-inch infinity V TFT display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a 20.9 aspect ratio. You get a decent 60Hz of refresh rate for smooth scrolling through the screen.
The screen is big despite having slightly thicker bezels, especially at the bottom, though the bezels are thinner at the top and sides. The screen displays colorful contents and it doesn’t consume much power thanks to the PLS TFT display.
Camera
In terms of camera, the Samsung Galaxy A03 spots a dual-camera setup that consists of a 48MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The main camera can shoot 1080P@30fps videos and up to 10x digital zoom. Photos that are taken in the auto mode look good though sometimes they appear oversaturated. But you can switch to the Pro mode while you can adjust the SIO, contrast, and brightness while capturing.
While in low-light or challenging light conditions, you can switch to Night mode to get the best possible quality out of the main camera. Meanwhile, you need to keep the phone steady for a few seconds while in Night mode to gather a bit more light details before taking photos.
Likewise the main camera, the 5MP selfie shooter needs enough light to capture nice selfies. Though it’s not the best, but still does a great job with its fixed focus support. Generally, the camera performance of the Samsung Galaxy A03 is satisfying unless you have high expectations.

Performance, Storage, and Software
The performance of the Samsung Galaxy A03 is just as we expected with the UNISOC T606 processor. As you perform your regular tasks like watching movies, scrolling through social media platforms, and browsing websites on the internet, you won’t encounter any issues. But you might experience some lag while launching multiple apps at the same time due to the relatively small 3GB of RAM.
The gaming performance of the Galaxy A03 isn’t much impressive. You will experience some lag while playing graphics-demanding games even at the lowest quality settings. The MALI G57 MP1 GPU in this phone can only handle games that require low graphics usage.

In memory, there are 3GB and 4GB of RAM which is paired with 32GB and 64GB of in-built storage. The bigger storage will be enough for casual users, but those who might need more can expand the storage up to 1TB through the dedicated microSD card slot.
The Samsung Galaxy A03 is using the company’s One UI interface known as One UI Core which Samsung uses for their entry-level smartphones. This phone runs the Android 11 operating system which is very easy to get used to. The One UI Core interface runs smoothly and there wasn’t too much bloatware clogging up the home screen.
Battery
The battery capacity of this phone is exceptional. You hardly find an entry-level smartphone with 5000mAh battery capacity which the Galaxy A03 offered at an affordable price. The Samsung Galaxy A03 lasts up to 12hrs while you perform your day-to-day activities. With a few minutes of web browsing, making calls, sending text messages, and watching videos, the phone will easily last up to two days or more.
