Infinix Hot 8 Review and Price in Nigeria

Infinix Hot 8 Performance and Price

When you’re presented with different options of smartphones with nearly similar specs, you’ll have no other option than to consider the prices and that leads us to the Infinix Hot 8 which is a very great smartphone. At a cheaper price, this phone offers some cool specs that are worth much more than its price, but Infinix didn’t ask too much for this smartphone which makes them one of the best in producing quality budget phones.

Budget and mid-range phones have been the most selling smartphones in the market. Most users would like to use the best mobile phones with great cameras, decent performance and solid batteries not minding the price they have to pay for them. Since budget smartphones are offering some of these qualities at a cheaper price, their demands have increased and it has formed a very interesting competition amongst the producers.

The Infinix Hot 8 comes in a 6.52-inch screen with impressive resolutions, attractive design, decent performance and features. All these for a phone which doesn’t cost that much and still packs a huge 5,000mAh battery. A 13MP sensor for taking photos might not be the best but still goes well with the price. A MediaTek Helio A22 chipset isn’t very good but with a 2GB RAM, this phone might still create some wonders. There is also 32GB of internal storage.

Design

The Infinix Hot 8 has improved well from the Infinix Hot 7 in terms of design. Though Infinix phones weren’t known for attractive designs, we think Infinix paid very good attention to the design of the Infinix Hot 8, producing an all-glass body with minimal bezels around its display. This phone features a length of 165mm, 76.3mm in width and weighs around 179g despite the huge battery capacity.

On the right corner, you’ll find both the volume and power buttons and when you turn to the left side, there’s a 3-in-1 card slot. Down the bottom edge of the Infinix Hot 8, there’s a complete selection of ports featuring a 3.5mm headphone jack, a micro-USB port, and the speaker grille.

And when you flip over to the back panel, it has a shiny and spackling surface. The back panel features a three-camera bump which is placed vertically at the left edge alongside a quad-LED flash. At the centre of the back panel but not too far from the camera is a fingerprint scanner with an “Infinix” logo below it. Infinix integrated this phone with four different colour options including Quetzal Cyan, Cosmic Purple, Shark Grey, and Midnight Black.

Display

For your viewing experience with this phone, Infinix has offered a 6.52-inch screen for the Infinix Hot 8 which comes with a 2.5D glass protector. The display comes with an IPS LCD panel, alongside a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels which isn’t sharp enough to make a good display. However, with up to 450 nits of maximum brightness, the display is bright enough to use outdoors.

With this 6.52-inch display screen which occupies almost 81.5% of the front panel, the Infinix Hot 8 serves as a huge screen for streaming videos, watching movies, playing games, viewing photos or any other content on your screen. There’s also a notch cutout at the top of the screen’s centre which houses the front camera for taking selfies.

Camera

For taking photos with this phone, Infinix has done well with the arrangement of a triple camera setup for the Infinix Hot 8 which has become a hot trend nowadays. Looking at the lenses that are backing these three cameras, especially the third one, you will definitely question the use of three cameras instead of having one good camera.

Among the three-camera setup of the Infinix Hot 8, there is a 13MP sensor which serves as the main shooter, a 2MP depth sensor, and a dedicated low-light sensor. When it comes to taking pictures, the main camera can capture nice pictures with the support of the quad-LED flash if needed. The depth sensor can do well with your portrait photography giving the background a nice blur with its Bokeh effect.

The front camera features an 8MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and a LED flash for taking selfies, recording videos, and making video calls. Also, the selfie camera supports the face recognition feature for extra security.

Performance, Storage, and Software

The Infinix Hot 8 being a budget phone, comes with a MediaTek Helio A22 chipset which is the same processor that powers most budget smartphones. This chipset is an Quad-core processor manufactured using a 12nm process technology in 2018. There’s also an integrated PowerVR GE8320 GPU for graphics management.

When it comes to performance, the Infinix Hot 8 can be sluggish only when you load it with strong apps or graphics-intensive games, but being a budget smartphone, you shouldn’t expect high-end performance from this phone. However, when you play some light games or perform some easy multitasking, this phone will function effectively and you wouldn’t experience any lag or even high-degree heating.

In memory, the Infinix Hot 8 comes in two versions, there’s a 2GB version with 32GB of internal storage, and a 4GB version as well with 64GB of internal storage. For each of the versions you choose, there’s an option for expansion via an SD card slot.

The Infinix Hot 8 runs on the Android 9 (pie) version, alongside the Infinix owned XOS 5.0 interface. Therefore, this phone introduces a lot of interesting features including some new applications like Vskit, Yo party, and Xshare for sharing files.
