iTel S23: Price in Nigeria and Availability
The iTel S23 is the latest addition to the iTel S series of smartphones, launched in May. However, the smartphone is currently available across several retail stores in Nigeria. Regarding the selling price of the iTel S23, the smartphone is priced according to the storage unit you’re willing to go for.
Therefore, the iTel S23 is selling at ₦93,000 ($102) and ₦82,000 ($90) for the 4GB /128GB and 8GB /256GB storage variants respectively. The smartphone is also available at some partnered online retail stores like Jumia, AliExpress, etc.

Design
While unboxing the S23, we noticed a few changes in the color scheme that looks entirely different from the previous Itel smartphones. Though that’s not our main draw point towards the iTel S23, it’s still worth pointing out because it gave the Smartphone an entirely new look.
Interestingly, the eye-catching features of the iTel S23’s design are focused on the rear of the smartphone. The device comes in an all-white plastic material that is refreshing to gaze upon. Though some users may find it a bit daunting to settle with a plastic cover, especially when you can get other alternatives that offer premium rear glass.
Nevertheless, getting a nicely built plastic cover at this price point is a good buy. Additionally, the all-white aesthetics is indeed something that will draw attention when unveiled from a distance. At the top right corner of the rear, there’s a slight circular bump reserved for the two camera module which sits elegantly on the surface of the rear.

Flip over to the front panel of the iTel S23, you’ll be welcomed with a large 6.6″ HD+ display that uses an LCD panel. The display of this device has some cutting edges that prove its budget status which is noticeable when you look at the display bezels and the resolution of 720 pixels.
Despite the downsides, the display is also rich in colors, sharp, and visible under lighting conditions. Also, the 90Hz of refresh rate is another amazing feature that is rare to see within this price range. The user experience of the S23 is also encouraging while watching videos and streaming on Netflix, thanks to the Widevine L3 certification.

Camera
The iTel S23 performs like every other mid-range phone in terms of camera, so there’s nothing special about the double camera housing except for its gorgeous look. The camera struggles with consistency in getting decent shots, so it requires several shots and patience to get the best out of the 50MP main camera.
Taking night shots with the 50MP camera is far from being the best you can get from a budget phone, which means that there’s still room for improvement on that as well. The QVGA secondary camera appears to be making no relevant impact on the camera performance except that it detects depth.
The iTel S23 portrait shots are just good, though sometimes photos appear to be too blurry due to unnecessary blurring effects. The 8MP selfie shooter performs well with portrait, daylight, and night shots. The selfie camera can also be useful if you want to make videos.

Performance, Storage, and Software
The iTel S23 arrives with a Unisoc Tiger T606 processor that clocks at 1.61GHz. Given that this is not a groundbreaking feature, it’s still commendable provided you aren’t breaking the bank for it. Asides from that, the iTel S23 can be able to handle multitasking and light games, though it won’t hold on to such heavy use for a long time.
Fortunately, we also have a 4GB of RAM onboard which is expandable to 8GB via the Virtual RAM function. One of the main draw points towards the iTel S23 is the 128GB of RAM which gives room for more apps, media files, and data.
Unfortunately, users of the iTel S23 will get the Android 12 OS, with no option to upgrade to the latest Android version. Another disappointment is the operating system of this phone which may look boring for someone that has come across Tecno and Infinix phones before. Though XOS and HiOS launchers are great to use, you’ll agree with me that most users do go for new devices just to experience something new.

The iTel S23 packs a large 5000mAh battery capacity which is a good match for the Unisoc Tiger T606 that consumes a lot of power. With this 5000mAh battery, the phone will get you through the whole day on moderate use. Meanwhile, you’ll need to charge the phone probably in the afternoon if it’s subjected to intense usage.
