The Oppo Find X5 Pro is a new flagship device that arrives just a year after the Find X3 Pro. And no, there was no Find X4 as Oppo revealed the Oppo Find N has technically replaced it. Oppo has over the years established itself in the high-end space. Debuting with the Find X2 Pro, down to last year’s Find X3 Pro which brought a lot of limited upgrades over its predecessor, and now the Find X5 Pro, all giving us reasons to fall in love with the Oppo brand.
The Find X5 Pro is a new flagship device that matches the likes of Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, jamming in high-end specs and performance that fits its level. The Oppo Find X5 Pro debuts with a Lite version which is entirely different and more affordable too.
Just like the Galaxy S22 and other flagship devices, the Find X5 Pro is aimed at providing excellent all-round performance for any buyer that wants the best Android phone and has the money to pay for it.
While the Oppo Find X5 Pro has a lot of pressure to perform above its predecessors, here’s our hands-on review about the phone. We believe with the detailed explanation, you can now decide whether the phone is worth your money or not.

Design and Display
Oppo has fitted the Find X5 Pro with one of the glossiest ceramic back and shiny finishes we’ve ever seen. Although this will make the phone prone to fingerprints you can still make use of a phone case if you want to avoid it.
The Find X5 Pro comes in Ceramic Black, Ceramic White, and Blue (eco-leather) colours with the back panel rising to form a noticeable camera bump just like in the X3 Pro. However, this design pattern is regarded as a disappointment by some fans in regards to the camera module as it makes the phone not rest comfortably when positioned horizontally.
Meanwhile, there’s a standard power button and volume rocker on the right edge of the phone which might be out of reach depending on the size of your hands. While there’s a USB-C port, the 3.5mm headphone jack is missing which is no longer a new thing in flagship phones. Fortunately, the Oppo Find X5 Pro is IP68-rated which protects it against dust and in-depth water for 30 minutes.
Oppo has impressed us with its display in the Find X3 Pro, and that trend continues here. The Oppo Find X5 Pro has gentle curves at the edges which produces a 6.7-inch WQHD+ (1440 x 3216 pixels) AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Although they’re the same as its predecessor but there are a few improvements.
There’s support for HDR10+, a 10-bit colour gamut, and 1,300 nits of max brightness. The 1,000Hz touch rate which is the number of times per second the display scans for a finger movement. This makes the Find X5 Pro good for gaming as most natural gaming phones normally hit around 720Hz.
There’s no doubt this is an all-round excellent display and will make the Find X5 Pro a contender for this year’s best phone for streaming movies.
Cameras
Just like its predecessors, the Oppo Find X5 Pro primarily focused on the camera. There is a triple camera arrangement on the rear of the phone with the main focus on the primary and ultra-wide sensors.
These are both 50MP Sony IMX766 sensors with 13MP telephoto (for 2x optical zoom) just like the Find X3 Pro. However, the Find X5 Pro misses out on the 3MP microscope camera of its predecessor which is awesome for close-up pictures. The Find X5 Pro has a 32MP detailed selfie camera with an RGBW sensor which helps to increase the brightness level of portrait shots.
These cameras have a lot of improvements over their X3 Pro counterparts with Oppo focusing more on a quality primary and ultra-wide camera. The Oppo Find X5 Pro’s main camera has a 5-axis OIS and an f/1.7 lens, while the ultra-wide has a narrower f/2.2 lens but a wider 110-degree FOV.
Some of the new features added are new camera modes which are designed in partnership with the iconic camera brand Hasselblad, like Pro Videography and Long Exposure which makes the Find X5 Pro more of a smartphone photography device. Also, there’s an XPAN mode that shoots in a 65:24 aspect ratio, providing a very wide and striking image.
Performance, Specs, and Software
This is a top-notch phone and it’s expected to have top-end specs. Jammed into the Oppo Find X5 Pro is the next-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset unlike the Snapdragon 888 that’s on the Find X3 Pro.
There’s no doubt this is a powerful chipset that’s good for gaming, photo/video editing, and multitasking, although it’s not that much upgrade from last year’s 888 chip. As expected, the phone is snappy to use notwithstanding the tasks thrown at it. Meanwhile, there’s an 8GB of RAM and 256GB built-in storage with no option for expandable storage.
The software here is the latest Android 12 with Oppo’s ColourOS 12.1 overlay. This software combination introduces a bright and colourful user interface with lots of customisable options that’ll suit every user.
Battery Capacity
This is an area that gave us much concern on last year’s Find X3 Pro and it seems nothing much has been improved this time around. The smartphone has a 5000mAh battery capacity which is just 500mAh bigger than last year’s Find X3 Pro.
Fortunately, the charging speed has seen a major increase with the Oppo Find X5 Pro offering 80W wires, 50W wireless and 30W reverse-wireless powering. This will set a new landmark in the flagship-level charging.
Oppo Find X5 Pro: Price in Nigeria and Availability
The Oppo Find X5 Pro is undoubtedly an expensive smartphone. In Nigeria, you can buy the Find X5 Pro’s 12GB of RAM and 256GB built-in storage variant for ₦500,000 (about $1,200). This is more cheaper than last year’s Find X3 Pro which costs ₦525,000 (about $1,250).
For US residents, it’s no longer news that most Chinese products are not sold in that region, so you won’t be able to pick them up there. In Nigeria, the Oppo Find X5 Pro will be available for purchase in March, with pre-orders starting globally on March 10.
