Design
We can confidently say that the design of the A53 is a great one. Although it didn’t feature all those premium materials you can find in Samsung’s top smartphones, but being a mid-range smartphone, you wouldn’t expect something more than a plastic back panel with a metallic frame around its circumference. Even without knowing the name of this phone, looking at its back panel you can easily guess it’s a Samsung mobile phone.
What are we trying to say? The camera set up of the phone looks almost like that of the S21 and S22 Ultra. A four-camera setup and a LED flash. The four camera bump is moulded nicely in such a way that it blends softly to the phone’s surface. Down the back panel, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G’s design won’t be complete without having a SAMSUNG logo well-placed at its centre.
Based on handling this smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G seems sizable for the hands despite having a huge screen expanding its dimensions to 159.9 x 74.7 x 8.1mm. Your hands can easily reach both corners of the phone unless they are small. The volume and power buttons are placed at the right corner of the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G which makes the control buttons easily reachable.
Weighing just 189g, this phone can sit comfortably on your palms while giving you a smooth feel with its plastic finish. The display of the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G shows a 6.5-inch screen. The display comes with an AMOLED panel which paves way for vibrant colours and sharp contrast. The 120Hz refresh is very good for a mid-range phone though you might not find it in most of them, instead, you are getting a 60Hz or 90Hz which highly distinguishes the Galaxy A53 among them. The 800 nits of max brightness is an impressive one though some mid-range phones would offer more.
The display’s AMOLED panel presents a Full HD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) resolution that makes watching contents a decent experience with this phone. The screen is coated with a Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. On top of the display screen comes a punch-hole cutout on its centre for the front camera, while down the screen still in the same centre hosts the fingerprint scanner.
Camera
Unlike most mid-range smartphones with a three-camera setup, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G boasts of a quad-camera arrangement with a LED Flash. The main camera houses a 64MP sensor with an OIS (optical image optimization) on its lens. The main camera can take nice pictures on its own just like we expected, and it comes with autofocus.
As for the other cameras, the main camera is paired with an Ultra-wide sensor. The 12MP ultra-wide sensor comes with a fixed focus, unlike the main camera. The last two lenses are the depth sensor and the macro lens. Though many people might question the value of a 5MP depth sensor and a 5MP macro lens. The only thing we are confident about is that Samsung didn’t include these two sensors just for looks.
On the front camera, you are getting a 32MP sensor which can be useful in many ways. Taking selfies, making video calls and shooting videos @4K are some of the things you can do with the front camera. You can also set up the face unlock feature with the front camera for extra security.
Performance, Storage, and Software
In terms of performance, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is very powerful. It provides a responsive performance for your daily usage. You can scroll through your social media feeds, browse the internet, and play your favourite games with this phone without experiencing any delay or even heating the system. The Exynos 1280 chipset powers this smartphone alongside the MALI-G68 GPU for the graphics.
The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G was the first Samsung phone to receive the Exynos 1280 chipset. This means the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G might offer something even much powerful than what we expected from it.
