Screen Translate in the Smart Sidebar

The ColorOS 12 added new tools in the Sidebar. There’s a Screen Translate feature, three-finger screenshot command, and Background Stream. The new Screen Translate feature is a smart way of translating the entire text on screen by using the Sidebar. Even when the screen is locked, you can run video in the background with the new Background Stream tool on the Sidebar.

PC Cross-Screen Connection

This is arguably the biggest feature that debuts with the ColorOS 12. It enables you to control and access your phone from the PC without any wired connection. This feature can access and edit documents on your PC that are stored on your phone at blazing speeds. Oppo revealed the feature will work on computers running on Windows 10 and beyond.

Refreshed UI

One of the noticeable features of the ColorOS 12 is how different the user interface is from last year’s ColorOS 11. This Oppo skin comes with a clean, uncluttered UI, unlike previous ones. Also, Oppo revealed it has worked with linguistics experts to provide a wide array of accurate language support and that could be seen in the over 13 Indian languages that come with the ColorOS 12.

Oppo has also put in place Animation Engine 3.0 which will give users a true life experience. The app icons have been redesigned to bring in more details with added light and shadows.

Privacy Controls

The ColorOS 12 update will have the new Android 12 privacy features. There will be a green indicator beside the battery icon if a sensitive app like a camera, microphone, or location is active. Fortunately, the new update has introduced a secure sharing function that allows users to delete metadata from photos before sharing them.

Instead of sending your precise location to an app, you can decide to send the appropriate one with the upgraded ColorOS 12 Privacy feature. Meanwhile, there’s a privacy dashboard that keeps a record of permissions used by apps although we’ve seen it on previous Android updates.

Improved Battery Optimisation

The ColorOS 12 brings in a revamped battery dashboard that gives a detailed analysis of how the battery has been consumed unlike before. Also, there are numerous power-saving modes such as preventing notifications from waking up the phone, turning off edge lighting, etc.
