Following the launch of the Tecno Pova Neo 2, Tecno is set to launch another device called the Tecno Phantom X2 5G which is the successor to the Tecno Phantom X. The launch of the new device isn’t official, but EEC certification has revealed that the Tecno Phantom X2 has a model number KZ0000005040 which means that the launch will be announced anytime soon.
Tecno is widely known for releasing lower and premium mid-range phones across Africa and Asia, but it seems their planning for something huge with the release of the Tecno Phantom X2 5G. This device will launch with a Mediatek Dimensity 9000 chipset which will be the fastest processor we’ve seen in any Tecno phone.
The same MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is this year’s flagship chipset that was released by MediaTek. It can rival the likes of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the Samsung Exynos 2200 chips in terms of performance. Therefore, the Tecno Phantom X2 5G will have almost the same performance as both Samsung and Xiaomi’s flagships, speaking of the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the Xiaomi 12.

Tecno Phantom X2 5G: Price in Nigeria and Release Date
The Tecno Phantom X2 5G is yet to be launched, so it’s not available in the market for now. But since the model number of the phone has been revealed, we’re expecting an official announcement from the company any time from now, as well as the release date and price of the new phone.
Meanwhile, the Tecno Phantom X2 5G is set to sell at a starting price of ₦283,000 ($387). As usual, the smartphone will launch in Asia and Africa, but we’re not sure if those in Europe will get their version of the Tecno Phantom X2 5G.

Design and Display
The Tecno Phantom X2 5G is built with a plastic material that features a massive camera module on the rear. The camera module houses three sensors, a LED flash, and an autofocus laser unit. A glass body would have been perfect for this phone instead of plastic which will often attract scratches. But the device feels very light which is a result of the plastic material.
The weight is around 199g while the body measures 168.7 x 76.9 x 8.5 mm in dimensions. A 6.7-inch display sits on the front of the Phantom X2 5G, with a resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels. The colour and brightness of the screen are great while the 90Hz of refresh rate ensures a smooth responsive touch as you scroll through the screen.
The fingerprint scanner is situated on the display just like its predecessor. You’ll also find the selfie camera in a pill-shaped cutout on the top left corner of the screen. This is a quite great attempt for Tecno in its first premium Phantom phone. The same thing applies to the camera, but let’s find out first.

Camera
The Tecno Phantom X2 5G comes with a triple camera setup on the back that consists of a 50MP main camera, supported by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 13MP telephoto lens. The smartphone also features a 48MP selfie camera on the front with another 8MP sensor for wide-angle shots.
The performance of the camera will be excellent, especially in good-light conditions where the main camera can capture some good-looking and colourful images. However, the several phones we’ve reviewed with this type of camera setup don’t perform too well in challenging light conditions, but we’re pretty sure that the Phantom X2 5G will deliver a pleasant performance in that area.
The camera features a Quad-LED flashlight on the rear while there’s a Dual-LED flashlight on the front. The two auxiliary sensors on the rear work perfectly for what they’re used for. As a flagship device, we’ll love to see some advanced features like OIS and EIS for recording videos.
Nevertheless, you can record videos at 720p resolution which is enough to create quality videos without the help of stabilization technology.

Performance, Storage, and Software
The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor in this phone clocked at 2.05GHz which makes it fast and power efficient to handle extreme workloads. This means that the Tecno Phantom X2 5G can handle any kind of multitasking without lag or heating up in the system. The 90Hz of refresh rate also adds to ensure a smooth and lag-free experience while scrolling through social media platforms.
