Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: Features, Specs, and Price in Nigeria

Here's the price of the Galaxy S22 Ultra

Bringing all the excellent qualities you can expect together on a mobile phone. Be it a unique design, excellent display, outstanding performance, incredible features, or bright camera, Samsung has what it takes to make you satisfied. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra really lived up to expectations as the latest smartphone in the company’s Galaxy “S” series.

Samsung launched this smartphone as one of the best smartphones if not the best. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra never let anyone down in some of its basics except having a lesser RAM than the previous model, but an 8GB RAM isn’t too bad.

This Galaxy machine really proved how good Samsung can be in dealing with flagship phones, presenting this excellent device which would probably make your top choice of smartphone if you are willing to pay $1,200 for it. Paying this huge amount of money as you might call it isn’t too much for a flagship phone, not to talk of rivalling the likes of the iPhone 12 Pro Max or Google Pixel 6 Pro with its camera capabilities.

Featuring the Galaxy Note’s S Pen that’s very responsive is a great adaption for this smartphone. Writing with the pen on this phone’s brilliant-coloured display screen is indeed a super-exciting experience. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has a good 6.8-inch display screen, alongside a fantastic 108MP main camera, and durable battery life.

However, this phone’s battery could have done better since most flagship phones offer more than a 5000mAh battery. Here’s everything we’ve gathered so far about the phone alongside its current price.

Design

Design

We really appreciate how Samsung has been designing its phones, bringing in new design techniques for other smartphone manufacturers to copy from. It’s hard to differentiate between the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and S22 Ultra unless you look at their back, and that’s with the camera but we will talk about it later.

First of all, the designs of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is simple but unique and exceptional at the same time. We are talking about the sharp, squared-off edges, a corning Gorilla Glass Victus on both front and back panel, and an armour aluminium frame across its circumference.

It looks like Samsung loves giving its phone a squared and boxy body starting with the Galaxy Note 10, and three years later, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is still having the same design structure. The power and volume buttons were shifted to the right corner of the phone, while at the bottom edge, you get a USB Type-C port, SIM slot, speaker, and the S pen.

There is no headphone jack or microSD card slot which we find it hard to understand why Samsung didn’t include them. Though a Micro SD Card slot isn’t needed since the phone has enough storage, but the headphone jack is very important especially to wired fans.

At the back panel of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, we were expecting a camera bump for the quad cameras just like the Galaxy S21 Ultra, but Samsung slightly raised each of the four cameras from the surface which means there is no camera bump. The design is finished with a “Samsung” logo down the centre of the back panel. There is also an IP68 rating making this phone waterproof and dust resistant. Samsung made this phone to be available in phantom Black, White, Burgundy, Green, Graphite, Red, and Sky Blue colours.

Display

Display

Samsung made this ultra-modern phone with one of the best display qualities you can get from a smartphone. The 6.8-inch display screen has an AMOLED panel with 1440 x 3080 pixels resolution. For years Samsung has been using an AMOLED panel for their display screen since they are the best technology.

However, they still remain the best with the upgraded 1,750 nits of peak brightness which might be the highest we have seen so far, which is a huge upgrade from the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 1,500 nits. There is also a 120Hz refresh rate for a smooth experience while scrolling through your screen, with a 240Hz touch sampling rate for gamers who would need a faster response while playing competitive games.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra offers a colourful display screen for watching content, mostly enjoyable while scrolling through your Instagram, Twitter, or watching your friend’s status on Whatsapp. Still, on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra’s display screen, you are getting a punch-hole cutout for face recognition on the top of the screen, while below it is an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Quad-Camera

Camera

Since quality camera performance is one of the most important features a user would prefer in a smartphone, the Galaxy S22 Ultra didn’t lack on that. Some flagship phones like the iPhone 13 Pro Max and Google Pixel 6 Pro been seen as one of the best phones because of their camera, Samsung is ready to join the competition with the latest S22 Ultra.

Although it’s still the same quad-camera setup we saw in the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, but there are well-upgraded sensors on the S22 Ultra. A 108MP main sensor might sound familiar but this phone has a larger 2.4mm sensor than the S21 Ultra.

The other cameras include a 10MP periscope telephoto lens with f/4.9 aperture and 10X optical zoom, 10MP telephoto with f/2.4 aperture and 3X optical zoom, and lastly a 12MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture. On a clear note, these sensors are basically the same as that of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, but Samsung made us understand that they have made several upgrades with the technology backing these sensors.

As a result of this, the main camera can capture images with more vibrant colours at night. This means you don’t have to use the night mode in other to capture bright images in lowlight environment. Also from the two telephoto sensors, you are getting a 10X and 3X optical zoom with a 100X and 30X space zoom which is the best zooming capabilities we have seen so far on s smartphone. Still speaking on the upgraded technology, there is also an Al stereo Depth maps for taking portrait photography. It helps in producing a nice Bokeh effect which gives the background a great blur.

For taking selfies with this phone, you are getting a 40MP front sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. I’m sure you don’t need to be told how good the front camera can be in taking selfies. You can also shoot videos at 4K, make video calls and expect nice results from it.

Excellent Performance

Performance, Storage, and Software

Samsung introduced two chipsets for this phone. The Qualcomm snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor for the US, China and India. On the other end is Samsung owned Exynos 2200 built with 4nm process technology for other countries. The reason Samsung made it this way is what we don’t know yet.

Notwithstanding the processor you get, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra delivers fast performance for anything you’re up to. You can play your favourite games, browse the internet, and watch your movies without the phone showing any sign of latency.

As for storage, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is built with 8GB and 12GB of RAM. As a result of this, this phone is available in 8GB /128GB, 12GB /256GB, 12 /512GB, and 12 /1TB options. Like we said before, there is no option for expansion of memory via SD Card slot since the provided storage will be enough.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra runs on Android’s latest 12 version, alongside Samsung’s One UI 4.1 interface. This phone comes with a whole lot of new features for easy navigation, and you’ll still get up to two years update for each of the software’s latest versions for more improved features.

Battery

The battery capacity of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is good, though we were expecting something more than a 5000mAh battery capacity since most of Samsung’s previous phones has the same.

This 5000mAh battery can last for two days based on moderate use, while with lots of video playback, gaming or even steady activity on social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook might limit the battery life to 10hrs approximately.

For charging this phone, it will only take you about 1hr to charge this phone from empty to full battery, thanks to the 45W fast charging support. Fortunately, the phone comes with 15W fast wireless charging support and 4.5W reverse wireless charging which is below our expectations.
