Infinix Note 12 VIP camera performance and price in slots

The Infinix Note series smartphones have been incredible when it comes to specs, introducing enticing features each year without many hikes in price. This year’s Infinix Note 12 VIP comes with impressive specs especially a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate alongside 120W HyperCharge that Infinix reveals can power the phone from 0 to 100% in 17 minutes.

The Infinix Note 12 VIP was launched as a higher sibling to the Note 12 and Note 12i, all of which debuts the same day. It’s a classic device with the best design we’ve seen on an Infinix phone yet. Furthermore, the Helio G96 chipset alongside an 8GB of RAM puts the Note 12 VIP among the best gaming phones from a Transsion company. Other features of the phone include a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, outstanding 108MP Cinemagic rear camera, 256GB built-in storage, 8GB of RAM with another 13GB RAM extension, and a decent 4500mAh battery.

There’s no doubt this is the first Infinix flagship of the year and it didn’t disappoint by debuting with the latest Android 12. But how did the latest Infinix product level against other flagships in the market? Perhaps you might have been considering whether the Infinix Note 12 VIP is worth its hefty price tag despite having a weak battery. Design

Design

The Infinix Note 12 VIP comes with a plastic rear and a plastic frame which makes for a lightweight phone. Fortunately, the device is IP53 certified which protects it from water and dust even though we’d have preferred an IP68 rating that gives full protection.

Meanwhile, the Infinix Note 12 VIP design is the best we’ve seen on an Infinix smartphone, especially the triple Cinemagic camera that is arranged in the huge black rectangular camera module. This reminds us that this phone only has a three-camera setup, then why create such a huge space. We think Infinix has copied Poco X4 Pro 5G on this part. However, there’s nothing to complain about here as most fans love having a special smartphone that distinguishes from the regular little square camera module we’ve always seen on Infinix phones.

The power button is built with a very responsive fingerprint scanner which is the current reigning fingerprint position. Its volume buttons were separated from the fingerprint scanner that’s positioned in the right corner. The Infinix Note 12 VIP weights 198g which places the phone in the light-weight category. However, the phone is available in only dual colour options of Cayenne grey and Force black.

Display

The Note 12 VIP has one of the best displays we’ve ever seen on an Infinix smartphone. Apart from having a vivid and colourful screen, the phone boasts of other amazing features like 393 PPI density, 1b colours, Dolby Vision, and 700 nits peak brightness level. Other features of the Infinix Note 12 display are amazing including the ability to automatically switch between 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate depending on your usage which helps to save battery life.

The 6.7-inch FHD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) resolution display has a Super Light AMOLED screen with a 120Hz Dynamic refresh rate. With such a large display and some of the best specs, there’s no doubt the Infinix Note 12 VIP’s screen will surely satisfy every fan’s want.

Camera

Camera

The Infinix Note 12 VIP comes with a 108MP Cinemagic triple camera setup which consists of the main shooter, ultra-wide lens, and a depth sensor. The absence of a telephoto lens or macro lens is something we can cope with since they’re really not that important. But an ultra-wide sensor that’s used for shooting in a wide range and a depth sensor for portrait photographs is much needed.

Starting with the main camera which has a 108MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture is just the same as what we saw in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S, and Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 which are all flagship phones. We’re happy Infinix has decided to follow in the footsteps of its fellow tech giants in giving the fans what they deserve. The main camera can take nice images no matter the light condition. Also, it can take some portrait photos producing a nice Bokeh effect and good depth of field.

The second camera is a 13MP ultra-wide shooter with 118 degrees field of view. The Note 12 VIP ultra-wide shooter seems very good considering the phone’s price. Though it can take pictures with a wide dynamic range, but not as detailed as the main camera, especially in low light conditions. There’s also a 2MP depth sensor which isn’t used regularly but works very well with portrait photographs if you prefer to use it.

The front camera has a 16MP sensor that when used to take selfies, produces good images with enough details. You can as well record 1440p and 1080p videos at 30fps and also make video calls with the phone’s selfie camera.

Performance, Storage, and Software

Performance, Storage, and Software

The Infinix Note 12 VIP gets the MediaTek Helio G96 gaming processor that’s paired with 8GB of RAM. This is arguably among the best Android gaming processors and is capable of handling any task thrown at it without showing any sign of lag. There’s a Mali-G57 MC2 card that takes care of the phone’s graphics duties.

Despite having up to 2TB storage expansion capability, the Note 12 VIP comes with a massive 256GB of built-in storage. Meanwhile, the 8GB of RAM can be extended up to 13GB via Infinix’s software RAM extension. As far as performance goes, this impressive Infinix device guarantees you a snappy performance notwithstanding the task.

The software here is the latest Android 12 just like expected, with Infinix’s XOS 10.6 laid on top. Fortunately, the Infinix Note 12 is guaranteed at least another 2 years of a major update to enjoy the continuous Google software features.

Battery Capacity and Charging

Battery Capacity and Charging

The battery department can be considered the most important feature of this smartphone. The Infinix Note 12 VIP 4500mAh battery life is quite average, but Infinix has something else to make up for it.

How fast is the charger? Well, definitely, a lot quicker than many flagships out there. The Note 12 VIP 120W HyperCharge feature can conveniently power this phone from 0 to 100% in 17 minutes (as advertised). This is the highest fast charging support we’ve seen on an Infinix device and we hope to see more improvements like the addition of wireless and reverse fast charge in next year’s model.
