With Android 12-based One UI 4.0 already distributed to hundreds of Samsung devices, few phones are yet to receive it. While many users especially mid-range owners are yet to receive the update, Google is already working on Android 13 in the background. With this, Samsung will roll out Android 13 (One UI 5.0) in a similar way they did with Android 12-based One UI 4.0.
Fortunately, the first Android 13 developer preview was already released in February, though most Samsung phones weren’t eligible. Nevertheless, it’s likely the Android 13 will come alongside One UI 5.0 which will be the newest version of the Samsung interface.

Android 13 (One UI 5.0): Release Date
Google will distribute the final version of Android 13 beta to its Pixel devices in August. And of course, Samsung won’t beat Google, so we expect Samsung to commence its own later on.
Just like last year, Samsung will distribute the Android 13 OS alongside its own One UI 5.0 interface. Meanwhile, Samsung typically releases a new OS towards the end of each year.
That said, the Android 13 (One UI 5.0) will be released in either September or October this year, while distribution will commence towards the end of 2022, many others will have to wait until 2023.

Android 13 (One UI 5.0): Public Beta
Google is currently hosting the Android 13 beta version on its Pixel phones, but Samsung is yet to start as of the time of this writing.
Before now, Samsung’s operating system is only limited to flagship models, but mid-range phones are now eligible for beta testing. However, Samsung’s Android OS beta versions are only available in specific regions like the US as smaller markets are typically left out.
Fortunately, the Samsung Android 13 (One UI 5.0) beta version is already available internally which means an official release is already on its way. The beta program launch is earlier than before which is great as it enables Samsung to figure out any potential bug in the software.

Android 13 (One UI 5.0): What’s New – Features
Just like before, Samsung’s Android version will have a slightly different look from that of Google Pixel because of the addition of the One UI interface.
Samsung just like other brands has an interface that’s paired with Android OS which brings new design changes, apps icon redesign, more battery optimization, etc.

However, the company revealed that “security updates may vary by device and market”. This means that security update rollout to some models is subject to change depending on various factors.
Before now, Samsung use to give 2 years of major Android updates to its Galaxy phones and tablets, but it now seems the policy has changed. Fortunately, the company announced it’s now committed to providing four years of major software upgrades to select devices going forward.
This is definitely a huge development and will improve sales of Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets since most users love staying updated with the latest Android software.
