The long-awaited Poco F4 5G smartphone has finally been launched in India. This came as good news for Poco lovers after they missed out on the Poco F3 that wasn’t launched in India last year. Meanwhile, there was no Poco F2 Pro, so the Poco F1 of 2018 is still used by several customers since it offers great value for money.
However, the latest Poco F4 5G has introduced much more improved specs, and those that came across the Poco F1 will see enough reasons to buy its latest model which offers great value for money as well.

The Poco F4 5G comes with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Also, it features a powerful Snapdragon 870 chipset, a 64MP camera with OIS support, and a 67W fast charger. The Poco F4 5G is undoubtedly an incredible phone that is worth buying, but we still have to mention the absence of a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack which most users might struggle to comply with.
On the other hand, the Poco F4 5G can be described as a quality gaming smartphone with a solid build quality and sound stereo speakers which offers a smooth gaming experience. Being the first Poco phone to feature an OIS, the Poco F4 5G is among the best phones the company has released so far and is equally a solid competitor among the best phones under $349.
Despite all the goodies the Poco F4 5G has brought to the table, it still has its disadvantages, so let’s find out if this phone really worth the hype.

The Poco F4 5G poses a glass cover on its rear which offers a smooth matte finish. We admired the way Poco handled the rectangular camera bump which blends well with the surface at the top left corner. Also, the camera bump always maintains its native black color despite the phone having three different color options. The Poco F4 5G is 7.7mm thick and weighs slightly much at 195g though it packs a 4500mAh battery and a bigger screen.
The volume rocker alongside the power button which features an integrated fingerprint scanner is positioned at the right corner. The dual-SIM slot, the primary microphone, speaker grille, and the USB Type-C port were all placed at the bottom. Then a secondary microphone, an infrared sensor, and a vent for the speaker are present on the top. Like we said earlier, there’s no headphone jack and a microSD card slot.
Generally, the Poco F4 5G looks more like a premium device built with durable chassis without minding the price. The phone is IP53 rated, meaning it can only resist water splashes, but can’t immerse inside water. Three color options are available namely Moonlight Silver, Night Black, and Nebula Green.
The Poco F4 5G has a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 20.9 aspect ratio, and 395 PPI density. The display features a 100% DCI-P3 color Gamut which makes for vibrant colors. And if you’re the type that uses the phone outdoors most of the time, the display has up to 1300nits of max brightness, though it makes 900nits by default which is equally enough for outdoor usage.
For your multimedia experience, the display also comes with HDR 10+ support for watching YouTube and Amazon Prime videos, as well as Dolby Vision for watching Netflix videos. You also get a buttery smooth experience while gaming or scrolling through your screen with the 360Hz touch sampling rate. With a 120Hz refresh rate, the display can switch between 30Hz, 60Hz, and 120Hz depending on the content.

Since other brands have been using the OIS for their smartphone cameras to promote their market, Poco didn’t waste any time showing off its own OIS-capable camera. On the rear, the Poco F4 5G features a triple camera setup where a 64MP sensor with OIS appears as the main shooter. The other cameras include an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro lens which uses EIS. There’s a 20MP selfie camera that can shoot videos at 1080p@30fps while the main camera shoots at 4k@30/60fps.
Photos taken during the day came out well with enough details and good dynamic range. With the pixel binning technology, you only take 16MP photos by default which makes photos look better in low-light or challenging light conditions.

Meanwhile, you can also take full 64MP images through the dedicated “64MP” shooting mode. The 2MP macro lens is nice when you capture in 2x, so photos might start to lose details once you get too close.
Wide-angle shots taken with the 8MP ultra-wide camera are decent when there’s enough light, but images won’t come out sharp at night due to its small sensor. The 20MP selfie shooter captures decent selfies, especially in good light conditions with full 20MP output.
Performance, Storage, and Software
The Snapdragon 870 processor in this phone is a 2021 flagship processor and still one of the best to date. Having such a processor in this phone has proven there won’t be any form of lag while using this phone. The Adreno 650 GPU ensures stable frame rates while playing games like BGMI Mobile, COD Mobile, and even Apex Legends which are graphics-demanding.
Also, the phone doesn’t get too hot, though it gets a little bit warm during hours of normal gaming. The Poco F4 5G comes with either 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM paired with 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage depending on the model.
The phone runs the MIUI 13 interface with Android 12 on top. The MIUI interface allows you to get rid of some pre-installed apps. It also introduces lots of features like One-handed mode, Gesture shortcut, and a lot more. Poco also promised two years of Android OS updates on this phone.
The Poco F4 5G packs a 4500mAh battery which can last for a day on moderate usage. You only get about 4 and half hours of screen on-time usage at a full 120Hz of refresh rate which is unimpressive. We think Poco should have gone for a bigger battery capacity that can power the Snapdragon 870 chipset, 120Hz refresh rate, and the 5G network connectivity without draining too fast. Thankfully, the 67W fast charging support is an excellent one. The phone charges from 0 to 100% within 45mins.
