There’s indeed a lot to talk about the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 as a flagship foldable smartphone. From the external display to the internal, and then how the phone performs with the processor it has within. Design
In the design of the Mix Fold 2, Xiaomi has gone for a well-built and compact structure which is definitely what every user would appreciate. We don’t focus much on looks when it comes to foldable phones as build-up quality should be the most important thing and Xiaomi did what we found to be an excellent job in that area.
Meanwhile, the Mix Fold 2 still looks good with all the premium materials that gave the phone a unique appearance. Still, with these premium materials, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 doesn’t weigh much, added that it comes with two displays.
Actually, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is a huge smartphone, but you’ll have a bit of reassurance when you compare it with other foldable phones. Weighing 262g, this phone has one of the lightest weights we’ve seen in any foldable phone.
The dimension extends to 161.1 x 144.7 x 5.4mm when you unfold the phone. That might seem very large, but that’s all for the two displays so you’ll have more than enough real estate to operate on.
When you fold back the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, it feels almost like a normal cell phone that you can easily carry anywhere because of its ultra-potable design.
The rear and front cameras are separated between the two displays. This means that the outer display has a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera, while the other has a triple camera setup on the rear.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 2: Display
The secondary display at the back of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 comes with a 6.56-inch micro-curved screen that has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection on its top. The screen features a Samsung E5 AMOLED panel, 21:9 aspect ratio, 2520 x 1080 pixels resolution, HDR10+, 120Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support. Also, it has an 8 million:1 contrast ratio with front and rear ambient light sensor support.
The Fold 2 also has an 8.03-inch LTPO2 OLED inner screen with 2016 x 1914 pixels resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support, 8 million:1 contrast ratio, support for rear and front ambient light sensor, HDR10+, and a Schott UTG Glass protection. Both screens feature amazing display qualities with beautiful and vibrant colors.

Camera
The camera properties of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 are very satisfying. There’s a triple camera setup on the rear of the Fold 2, consisting of a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera that features PDAF and OIS, 13MP ultra-wide, and an 8MP telephoto lens. Here, the pixel count doesn’t really matter because photos captured on the Mix Fold 2 very look sharp and detailed.
We found the secondary cameras to be very useful when you need them. The likes of the 8MP telephoto lens support 10x digital zoom and 2x optical zoom which enables you to zoom in and take some nice shots, while the 13MP ultra-wide captures decent wide-range pics as well.
Even when it gets dark, photos still look good as well as portrait shots. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has other camera features like Panorama, HDR, OIS, Leica lenses, and gyro-EIS.
If you’re the type that loves recording videos, the Fold 2 might interest you as it records 8k and 4k videos while its 20MP selfie camera can shoot at 1080p. This is around the best you can get if you’re looking for a video recording feature like that of Apple’s premium phones.
Performance, Storage, and Software
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, built on TSMC’s 4nm process technology. Most of the phones with this chipset are very good for gaming, and doing the same on this phone’s double display will be a very interesting experience.
Interestingly, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 also has a cooling system to enable the phone run smoothly without heating up. The Adreno 730 GPU ensures that the phone doesn’t drop frame rates even with long hours of gaming.
The chipset supports 5G network connectivity so you’ll get to browse with a steady fast network speed. Scrolling through social media will also run smoothly, plus having a refresh rate of 120Hz will ensure a buttery smooth experience.
For storage, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has 12GB of RAM that is paired with either 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of in-built storage. It’s very clear that storage space for expansion isn’t very necessary as there’s no space for SDcard, even though the smallest 256GB storage model has enough space. You can as well go for the higher storage variants, but bear in mind that you’ll have to pay some extra cash.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 runs the Android 12 OS and MIUI Fold 13 interface. The user interface of this phone has improved a lot with the new software. You’ll now get to use new control gestures that will enhance your experience with the Fold 2.

Battery Capacity and Charging
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is powered by a 4500mAh Li-Po battery. The battery supports 67W fast charging with other charging features like Quick Charge 4+ and Power Delivery 3.0. However, the phone lacks other advanced charging features like wireless or reverse wireless charging.
When fully charged, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 can last for 8 hours, even with intensive use that involves hours of gaming, recording of videos, and browsing. Interestingly, the phone takes only 40mins to charge from empty to full battery.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 2: Price in Nigeria and Release Date
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 isn’t a cheap phone, but that’s normal for a foldable smartphone. While going for such phones, you should expect something above $1k, even for the cheapest out there in the market. Fortunately, the Fold 2 is among the cheapest foldable phones in China currently.
The Fold 2 was officially released on 11 August in Xiaomi’s native country China. The global release date is yet to be announced, so shipping from China is the only way the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 could get to you for now.
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 will start selling at ₦719,000 ($1,050) for the base 12GB/256GB model. There’s an increase in the price of the higher storage models where the 12GB /512GB and 12GB /1TB are selling at ₦799,000 ($1,167) and ₦959,000 ($1,400) respectively.
